One my aluminum guys knows tons of people, so he's gonna see if we can just buy the accordion shutters and we'll install them. The bitch is gonna be the roll down I want to do on my lanai which is a 36' opening. More than likely I'll do 3-12' sections on the columns. I should add, there's no rush for me and I'll wait for it to die down as well. I'm just sick of lugging plywood around as I have a shit load of openings to covers.

How often do you lug plywood around?

I would like accordion shutters, but I have the shutters with the wingnuts on top and bottom, and can easily do the entire house in 2 hours taking it easy.

I know it's not worth "panicking" over, but the African production line just spit out two more waves, both with over a 60% chance of development.

Only when I think we're gonna get a big storm of Cat 3 or larger. Number one is it beats the hell outta me and two it's a PITA to store.

As I said above, it's mainly the lugging and storing of it. I have a shit load of windows and sliders. I priced one accordion 36" x 48" shipped and it was $269. I'm guessing I can do it for around $5K with me installing. That big roll down is gonna be the killer.
As far as those new ones, that's the main reason I didn't take everything down yet.

I agree with everything said here. In fact, this is the first time I've used my generator to power the house in the 11 years I've owned it. I have 3 companies coming out over the next month to do estimates. We'll see where the numbers are before we make any decisions. The problem is that by the time doing these in the future becomes a priority, it's too late to get them done or the money has been spent on something else.

I second that. Glad to hear some positive news. I saw you have peeps. What about looting?
Not to change the subject, and I don't know exactly where you're at, but do you know how bad Crescent City was hit?
