So,....let's get the skinny here.
Are there going to be a "limited" amount of GT500 cars built? If so, why would Ford do it that way? (Serious question.)

I don't have any information on that.

It's good for PR.

Thanks Nick. Just wondering.
I look at the ZL1 and the Z06 and they don't have limited availability, making it easier to obtain the car someone may want.

The Z06 and ZL1 will also sit on lots longer, then be sold at steep discounts; much like their predecessors.

Ford has always dominated the domestic market on exclusivity of their 'performance' brands. Surprisingly, the first gen Raptor is probably the best example.

Makes sense Nick. Thanks for clearing that up.

(Currently looking at Z06/Z07 cars at the top 3 dealerships. Just browsing. I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money on a car that I wouldn't be driving much anyways. Would rather have the new GT500 though, even though that would probably cost the same/close to the Z. "IF" I could find the exact one I wanted, of course. lol If I'm spending that kind of $$, I want exactly what I want. We'll see what happens. Just browsing the inventories and getting ideas. May not even happen. Who knows.)

Hey guys...I have my DEMON Vin# and waiting for my beast to arrive. I wanted a GT500 but just got tired of the wait / lack of news. Seriously, I've been blowing GT350s away in my Hellcat now for 2 years and I didn't think Ford would take this long. I had a 2010 GT500 and loved it for all it's charm and wow back then...Gosh, remember when 540bhp was like OMG!!!! Course the car was like 48K. Now the prices are going insane.

Does anyone really think the new GT500 will be able to outrun a Demon on race gas? I for one think the Demon is amazing, but it's also a lot of marketing hype. No way people see times they are bragging about on the street. Car is hard enough to hook up on a prepped track with drag radials.

But let's picture this scenario...Demon and new GT500 are both rolling at 30mph and gun it. You really think the Ford will walk on the Demon? Or pull harder?

Lastly...we've been hearing "very soon" now for years. Enough already. Just launch the car.

The new GT500 is not a direct competitor to the Demon. The GT500 will be aimed at the ZL1 1LE.

Let's picture this scenario....Demon and new GT500 are both rolling at 135mph and about to stand on the brakes go through a left/right chicane, come out floored, stand on the brakes to go around a hairpin and floor it for the remainder of the lap. You really think the Demon would be close to the GT500? I bet not.

The Demon is a straight-line, drag car. The new GT500 will not be.

The Demon will own the street. But the new 500 will be a much superior all around car.

If you are a drag / street racer, Demon all the way.

If you are a driver, 500 all the way.

Yeah and ZERO kids around the world dream about that scenario. God...nobody really cares about TRACK times. They care about 1/4 mile times in America.

I don't get it. Isn't the GT350 Ford's track car? And the R is the beast mode of it? So now they will make a better track car to do what? Destroy the resale value of the GT350s and what lap tracks faster than the Camaro but get it's ass handed to it on the street by the DEMON?

What happened to Ford? Shelby's were the KING OF THE ROAD, not the KING OF THE TRACK. And for those thinking the Demon doesn't handle, it actually breaks better than a VIPER ACR and has .99Gs of lateral grip :)

You realize you just contradicted yourself right? The original GT350 was the king of the track and technically the AC Cobra dominated street and track, then the GT500 was the main street car, also **brakes and I would like to see a demon out brake a GT350 or GT350R, let alone an ACR. The new GT500 would be an all around car, beat you on the street and out handle you on a track.

Many people care about "track times". People want a car that handles. A driver's car. The full experience.

No doubt the Demon is special but LOL at it out-braking an ACR. LMAO!

Stop it man, dont be a fan boy.

I will be that guy that says the street is no prepped strip. Far from it.
The demon is a 9.6 or whatever car on a prepped strip with hero runs. This GT500 will be 200 lbs less than a stripped out demon, which most aren't. A demon is 808 on 93 octane. From what I'm hearing, the GT 500 will be 760HP.
20 HP/100 lbs, that puts the GT500 right at 8hp less, give or take a few, on a stripped out demon. Id say, imo, it' not an absolute win for the demon. Let' just see what the GT500 gets for sure.
The demons suspension is set up for drag, but the mag suspension in the gt500 may do ok in drag mode.
Everyone knows nothing is for certain in dragging on the street...shoot hit one little oil spot an there goes the wheel spin. In a perfect street condition, no dust, rocks, hot road/tires, the demon beats the gt500, no question.

Here in the Midwest (my area anyway) ,
If you can find a road out of a construction area your doing good. Most have a 1/4" layer of dirt infused into the pavement. Gravel trucks dumping rocks and sand all over the roads, farmers throwing mud on the roads from fields.
Certain times of the year are better than others.
When I lived in Tampa FL, it rained every day cleaning the crap off the roads. Night and day difference with roads there.

Road racing is more popular than a lot of people realize..

Even in Colorado, I can think of 2 drag strips that we have. I know of at least 4 road courses that are all within a few hours drive at the most and rumor has it a 5th one is being built.

More and more handling friendly cars are being built and it's bringing new people to road courses all over the nation.
