Using a FN 5.7 MK II. Went to the range and its smooth. Was surprised by the trigger pull and reset. Was very good. Will practice with it some more before I pick up a laser/light combo.

Seems like a big gun for pocket carry. When I pocket carry, it's my LCP in a holster that covers the trigger. I carry my M&P40c & XD40SC in a Crossbreed IWB holster.

I'm 6'2" and 380lbs. I wear extra-long t-shirts and I am big enough that I can pocket carry just about any full-size pistol.

I have a really nice leather Galco holster that I use to pocket carry daily, which does cover the trigger. I bought the clip as part of a 2 stage process, which includes the trigger cover. (Waiting for delivery) I'm switching to a leaner setup for summer months because the leather holster adds a lot of bulk.

The cool part about the clip is, the gun still fits in my IWB and OWB holsters without having to remove the clip... So it's going to be super versatile.

The store is literally in the middle of no where in a town called Menden but the whole experience was terrific so far. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the products.

Nice safe. I want one that size, but after helping my buddy move his twice, I'm not buying one until I know it's a house I'll be in long term. Worst thing to move and no one ever wants to help, I was dumb enough to twice, lol.

Me and my dad went to the store in his raptor with the intent of doing it ourselves but I was initially going to buy a smaller safe. The dishwasher showed interest in having extra room for her shit so I went bigger and me and dad took a knees.
Is it fire rated?

Yes sir. 60 minutes @1200°F.

Here are the specs.

That a nice safe, Bruno. I wish I had space for a larger safe on the first or second floor.

When I eventually close my shifter gasket business, I'd like to convert the shop into a gun room. I'd have a large gun safe like that one, my work bench for cleaning my weapons, and space for all of my gun-related supplies. I actually wish I had that gun room in place now. I wouldn't have to clean my guns in the kitchen any longer. LOL.

When I sold my house last summer, the shop and work bench went with it. I now add the fragrance of Hoppe's #9 bore cleaner to the wife's kitchen trash.

Mine is going in a utility room in the basement due to my dishwasher.

If I had any say I would have put it right in the living room for all to see.

Then on the holidays I could have kept opening and closing it and fondled my pistols for my mother in law. She is huuugly antigun and we don’t get along so good.

I was moving some stuff around in my safe and thought I would take out my Springfield Pro for a shot. For background, this is the pistol that FBI’s HRT team requested after the Branch Davidian incident. Essentially, they wanted a ultra-reliable custom 1911 for duty use. The new pistol was required to be highly accurate but also highly reliable. So, in 1996 the FBI put out an RFP, to which Kimber, Colt, Springfield, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Cylinder and Slide, C More, and Pro Gun responded.

All guns had to shoot a 10-shot group at 25 yards of less than 1.5’ from a ransom rest. For reference, the target that comes with Wilson Combats and Nighthawk is a 5 shot group. Then the gun would go through a 20,000 round reliability test, after which it would have to undergo the accuracy test again. For reference, the original military 1911 test was only 6,000 rounds. Only 10% degradation of accuracy was permitted. The RFP stipulated that all testing be conducted with Remington Golden Sabre, which is not considered very accurate ammunition. Of the group that submitted RFPs, only Springfield and Pro Gun passed both the accuracy and reliability test. Springfield got the contract, as Pro Gun was not deemed capable of fulfilling.

Civilians are able to purchase any guns left over from the FBI run. Historically there is a long wait, when I ordered this one it was 36 months. I also have a railed version (this is known as the “Operator”) that only took 12 months, so it can vary. The very first runs were stamped “FBI” on the side, but Springfield received a cease and desist order and now stamps them as “Professional.” If you across one stamped “FBI” it is worth a ton as there were only 258 made. There are a handful stamped “DEA” that are worth even more.

How does it handle and shoot? It is bank vault tight and accurate AF, although the trigger is not as good as other semi customs. It is set up for fighting, with ~5lb trigger break vs. the more typical <4lbs for WC, HNG, GCI. It has a ambi safety and 20lpi front strap, which will tear your hands up if you shoot extended range sessions. Nonetheless, if I were to carry a full size 1911 it would be this one, no question.

Here is a great article on this gun and the selection process if you are interested in learning more

Spent the whole evening grinding off the frame tangs and fitting a Wilson beavertail grip safety on my dad's Colt Government. (relax, he bought it in 1992 :D). Can't stand that duckbill grip safety that came on it. Too hard doing reloads on the clock at matches.

That's a Wilson thumb safety, too. Any perceived boogering on the frame is just Sharpie marks. You gotta use one to figure out where your high spots are while fitting the part. I love 1911s, but after 100 years you'd think they'd standardize. But no. lol

So I’m looking for a .22 pistol.

I shoot so much that I feel owning one would save me money in the long run.
I’m leaning towards the smith and Wesson revolver either 17 or 617.
What do you guys think?

My dad owns a smith model 41 performance center and I love to shoot it.

What else would you recommend in .22?
