Recently bought 2 new to me vehicles. 1 intended as the daily beater, the other a family vehicle/hauler for the Shelby and future family.
Daily beater is a 1997 Ford Taurus GL in white. 160K miles. Bought it for $325 bucks with blown head gaskets. Poor girl was stuffed full of stop-leak and generally not cared for. Left to rot away in someone's backyard before they decided to get rid of it. $500 in parts later, she's running like a champ again. Still needs parts of the suspension fixed and needs a rear brake job badly. Timing chain couldn't hurt and the heater core is still plugged but she passed emissions the day after I deemed it road worthy. With any luck, she'll keep on trucking for years to come.
Most recent acquisition is a 2001 Ford Excursion Limited. V10, 4x4, with 4.30 C3 code axles. 131K miles, with documented Ford DEALER maintenance for the majority of the truck's life. Given that its a 17 year old truck/wagon that spent time in downstate Illinois as well as Arizona, she's in good shape. Came with F-350 front leafs and Rancho RS9000XL shocks installed. Seller gave me the rear F-350 leafs and Ranchos he didn't put in yet. My lady and I have already raided the local pick and pull. Needs new plugs, a coolant flush and oil change but she's all there and it all works, even the shift on the fly 4x4! I love this ****ing truck, absolutely love driving it. Cant wait to go find some trails and eventually do Overland trekking.
I put my Kenne Bell dreams on holds for a while, but Ive got all the vehicles Ill need for the rest of my life. FINALLY going to retire the Shelby from active DD duty. And that makes me VERY happy. With the exception of the Shelby, the Taurus and Excursion are paid for.
