Recently bought 2 new to me vehicles. 1 intended as the daily beater, the other a family vehicle/hauler for the Shelby and future family.

Daily beater is a 1997 Ford Taurus GL in white. 160K miles. Bought it for $325 bucks with blown head gaskets. Poor girl was stuffed full of stop-leak and generally not cared for. Left to rot away in someone's backyard before they decided to get rid of it. $500 in parts later, she's running like a champ again. Still needs parts of the suspension fixed and needs a rear brake job badly. Timing chain couldn't hurt and the heater core is still plugged but she passed emissions the day after I deemed it road worthy. :D :D With any luck, she'll keep on trucking for years to come.

Most recent acquisition is a 2001 Ford Excursion Limited. V10, 4x4, with 4.30 C3 code axles. 131K miles, with documented Ford DEALER maintenance for the majority of the truck's life. Given that its a 17 year old truck/wagon that spent time in downstate Illinois as well as Arizona, she's in good shape. Came with F-350 front leafs and Rancho RS9000XL shocks installed. Seller gave me the rear F-350 leafs and Ranchos he didn't put in yet. My lady and I have already raided the local pick and pull. Needs new plugs, a coolant flush and oil change but she's all there and it all works, even the shift on the fly 4x4! I love this ****ing truck, absolutely love driving it. Cant wait to go find some trails and eventually do Overland trekking.

I put my Kenne Bell dreams on holds for a while, but Ive got all the vehicles Ill need for the rest of my life. FINALLY going to retire the Shelby from active DD duty. And that makes me VERY happy. With the exception of the Shelby, the Taurus and Excursion are paid for.

@gimmie11s :D I took the bug deflector off. Needs new tint and some other paint repair but she's in pretty good shape. Definitely need to get the F-350 rear leafs in. Cali lifts are cool and all, but I like my ride level haha

I had been driving a 1999 ranger. I love that little truck. I drive it like an old man, its reliable and I don't sweat it. I recently bought a 2018 gt that I dd. And I ****ing hate it. I stress where to park it. I stress it getting dirty.

I've driven a shit box daily for years.
Last 4 dd's where a 1997 saturn sl2, 2003 Mazda protege and a 1997 BMW 540i with a 6 speed.

OMG that thing is bad ass. My 10 year old son and I were looking at Excursions on Craigslist just last night. He loves them. Funny because its the last thing I need being we have the 02 3/4 Suburban I posted earlier in this thread.

I'll definitely have an Excursion one day. Im not opposed to the v10 either. The Powerstroke is a great motor, but the 10 would be fine.

This is why i wont spend alot of coin on a DD now.

Im OCD as hell when it comes to my sleds. I’ve turned to the dark side now, though-i LOVE not giving a damn if my ‘cheap’ DD gets scratched and ****ed up. I still wash it every other week, and thats enough for the beater.

I love driving my Taurus as my DD. I do not at all worry about driving. I certainly have a bit more attached to it sentimentally. resurrecting a car someone cast off as junk can do that. But if I get hit, dented or tapped... meh. lol

Its definitely a great engine. New Motorcraft spark plugs torqued to 26 foot pounds and the plug blowout is gone. My truck has the updated rams horn style Y-pipe. The original y pipe was a restrictive POS, but this seems to be a lot more free flowing. I was considering adding the Banks headers until I saw that the Ram horn y pipe was on there.

Diesels are bad ass but when they break they can get expensive, even the 7.3s. Think about all the motor homes, medium duty work trucks, tow trucks, commercial vehicles, Industrial generators, Super Duty's and Excursions that have the V10 in it. Its a proven engine. Thirsty, but a perfect gas option. It seriously MOVES a 7000 pound truck very well.

Just bought a 98 LS400 from the original owner this past September. I drive over 60 miles per day and this car makes my commute much more enjoyable than the beater 2000 Civic it replaced.

You did very well sir. That's the early 4.0L generation of the LS 430 engine. Its listed as a 1UZ, but its got A LOT more in common with the 3UZ. Keep the oil changed regularly and use Toyota filters and she will last you a long time.

My daily beater switches between two vehicles depending one what the GF is driving that day.

A 2003 BMW M3 with the 6spd and a 2012 Jeep Wrangler lifted on 37s & Metal Cloak suspension. The weekend car is the Viper.
