I own and show #214 00 Cobra R. Everywhere I go I'm asked how many 8 years later are still around? I explain some are driven, some are shown, and many are raced as they were intended to be. Of the 300 cars, how many are just plain gone to car heaven? I may be the only owner interested but I would be nice to know how many are actually still available. The 93 and 95 might be interesting to know also. Any ideas on how to find out. Maybe anyone who has totalled one can reply and we can count backwards.

Thanks Mike

I do not think there is a practical way we will ever know how many of the R's have been totaled and destroyed.

This may sound silly, but if you had all of the VIN # for all the R's you could run a car fax on them all and find out the answer.

Or maybe access to a law enforcement / DMV records.

And cars that went right from the factory to race duty and never were registered with DMV will not show up in these records.

There are 43 '00 Cobra R's that have been deemed "totaled." 29 of them were salvaged and I'm assuming parted out.

I'm just joking around. I guess I'm a little late of the April's Fool's joke, huh? I don't think there's any way of actually knowing unless you do what Philcsag1 suggests and that would be pretty damn near impossible.

I'm interested in knowing as well though. The less there are, the more valuable they become.

I have access to carfax. I agree it would take effort but it might be interesting to find the answer if possible. The challenge of getting the information is as interesting as maybe the final answer.

The list of all 107 VIN # for the 1993 R and the list of all 250 VIN # for the 1995 R are listed in Tom Schreiner's book the SVT Cobra Recognition Guide

Now all we need is the list of all 300 , 2000R's

And about 60 hours if each car fax takes about 5 minutes

Ironically enough there are exactly 214 2000 Cobra R's left.

(this would have been much funnier yesterday.....)

I think PHil forgot to take his medication or he doesn't acknowledge poor attempts at April Fool's jokes......

When I had my Superformance 427 Cobra I always got asked the same question while gassing up.... "Hey, is that thing real?"

I sold the 427 for my 00R.

And wouldn't ya know it... I have been asked 3 times already while getting fuel.. "Hey, is that thing real?"

:dw:

:??:

I can't win.

Mine is still around, I think if we just ask all owners on here for their numbers we can narrow the field......:dancenana:

Let's try this. It will take awhile but lets see where we get. Just add too it if possible. If someone can get a list of Vin #'s from SVT I will investigate them and try to come with an answer for the group.

#19 wrapper
#29 wrapper

#290 parts car
#36 track car
#155 track car
#214 non track car
#162 track car
#41 TRACK CAR
#124 around (retired track car)
#193 around

290 left to find
If I'm incorrect on any of these feel free to correct me.

Mike
