anyone see the 4th of july challenger commercial yesterday??? DAMN...that thing is nothing short of exciting as ****. dodge really knows how to **** with you if you are into power and speed- they make me want to go buy one every time i see their ads anymore. then, and maybe this was a sign (if i believed in signs), i head out of my house to go to a party and a VICIOUS looking black on black Hellcat passes me by going the opposite direction- the sound and presence of that beast cannot be denied every time I see one (which is not all that often). there is NOTHING on the road that comes even close to the excitement that car commands when you see and hear it on the road, IMHO (at least not where i live...there are exotics, germans, etc all over all day every day, but when this goes by you can hear it well before you see it and then when it is visible it just has a wow factor for me- like the 2014 GT500 did when i bought it (and i still get that feeling every time i start it up and take it out))....i truly cannot believe i am saying this about a dodge, but credit is being given where due.

I cannot find a link for the commercial.

Anyone have one?

yep, still gives me goosebumps today...@ 26 seconds i love how they do a quick silhouette view of the driver's face- with the shading it looks kinda like the Demon/Hellcat face, kinda.

Dodge's commercials are definitely appealing to the Fast and Furious crowd. I find them a bit annoying. The way they incorporate the supercharger noises makes them sound like a bunch of irritating gnats or mosquitoes.

... I think Dodge's real super star is the Charger Hellcat, not a lot of competition and it's a real passenger 4 door car with tons of power, yes please!

The Charger Hellcat makes a little more sense. IMO, if someone is in the super sedan market, i.e. M5, E63S, etc., they'd be remiss not to at least consider looking at the Charger Hellcat. The Challenger Hellcat is a fat hog just dangling out there like an appendix. It's in it's very own niche. That it has any sales success at all is amazing. There's not much of a market for big HP, 4400+ lbs road barge coupes. That said, you still have to give Dodge props for producing them.

1. if you are referring to a crowd who appreciates Fast cars with a Furious presence, then yeah i agree with you that it appeals to that crowd. If you find the sound of a badass supercharger 'annoying' well then i have no idea what else to say to you.

2. agreed about the charger- definitely worthy of a look.

That sound is not being superimposed. That is exactly what my car sounds like from the driver's seat, as well as from outside the car. It's pretty awesome.

i have been in them and that sound is incredible, especially when coupled with that angry sound out back. annoying or irritating never ever crosses my mind when i hear that.

For one Dodge is killing it with commercials. When’s the last time Ford has? With the Steve McQueen and field of dreams? That’s actually how their blowers sound. I’d say a lot of people here like speed and horsepower. Maybe you don’t anymore.

The possibility of Ford asking $70K+ for the new GT500? It's too much!
Dodge asking upwards of $80K for a Hellcat? No big deal.

Say what??

Because Ford will force you to pay a $30k ADM on top of that or wait 3 years?

Then Ford will also use some weird engine/transmission combo that will cost a fortune to repair or rebuild.

Hellcat Factory Short Block is $4k.

I show a GT350 short Block is $9,225

GT500 5.8 OEM blocks are no longer available. Aftermarket rebuilds are $13,000.

Once again, there still is no GT500. If the specified goal is to be competing with GT3s and the new ZR1, well... that’s going to be a stupid expensive car.

Reading is fundamental. In other words, the sounds are poorly edited, IMO. FFS, people.

I'm just saying.. to incorporate means to included, implying that its not naturally part of the subject. My response was basically... nope, that's how it sounds. It's not a poor edit or audio overlay... its just how it is. IMO, as an owner, that is actually what it sounds like.

GTpremi is just a butt-hurt brand loyalist. Maybe the GT500 (if it is ever released) will finally get in the 10's stock like dodge and chevy have already done years ago.

Ford doesn't force you to pay anything. The ADMs are charged by greedy dealers, not Ford. All you have to do is not buy the car, if you don't want it that badly. Just do like most everybody else and wait for it to hit the used market. Besides, ADMs on GT500s never last more than a few months. The only reason ADMs are lasting so long on the GT350 is because it's damned near an exotic car when you look at all the performance equipment, especially in the case of the GT350R.

I personally find the commercial enjoyable, what’s not to love about someone ripping around in their car and the sweet sound of the blower. Sure some of the noises eddited in likely weren’t needed or real but tastefully done imo. I think it’s cool to see a manufacturer encouraging their customer base to buy these cars and beat on and have fun with.

Is this cruise ship going to outhandle the gt500 that isn’t even here yet? Nope likely not but the vast majority of people buy a car to have fun with and aren’t in some form of competition based racing so who cares.

Plenty of other rides to choose from for dedicated use.
