i know i am basically bringing up a topic thats been brought up too many times, but for the life of me i can figure out why the "infamous" valve tick would come in intermittently, the noise would normally be annoying at 2000 rpms but i changed the oil to 5w30 mobil 1, with a motorcraft oil filter and added 4oz of miltec, it seemed to help really well and the noise was almost gone, yesterday night driving home from work normally got home as soon as i got in the driveway the tick was alot louder now but at idle? i cant see how a valve can just suddenly change?

On mine.

Lower pulley bushings wore out. Post were banging the pulley. Sounded like a tap.

With car off. Try to move belt back and forth

Lower pulley should not move.

I had over an inch play

Check your plugs to see if any are loose. If you don't know where the problem is find where it isn't
i checked those as well, they are nice and tight. tomorrow morning im going to get under her to get a better idea, hoping its an exhaust leak.

That doesn't sound like the valve "tick issue" to my ears. Hopefully it's an exhaust leak. It does sound more like that.

Listen to video.

Does noise change any with clutch pushed in?

Tob has been an issue on mine.

I had 1 bearing split and it was causing the fork to bang on transmission sounded like a rod let loose

But also known to squeak chirp rattle tap

When you Revved it up. I still heard this main sound that didn’t change

Sounded like popping

that doesn't sound like a squeak or chirp, that sounds like a metal tap or thud

Did you make a pull in it recently and take it up to redline? What mods are on the car and was it dyno tuned?
