Hey everyone,
I'm having some issues tracking down the cause of my rear diff issues. So here's the backstory:
I purchased a used 2003 Cobra IRS unit that was blown up from a hard launch with slicks. I ended up nabbing a used center pumpkin to replace the blown unit (I didn't rebuild the center...
Is there anyone in the Phoenix area that can help me with an issue with my IRS? I'm really trying to not sell this thing, but every time I drive this f***er it makes the most disgusting noises in the back. It clunks, bangs, rattles, etc. It makes every noise known to man when it comes to cars...
Not so much anymore. Quite a few studies have been conducted that show that millennials are texting instead of emailing more as it's more efficient and easier access. Business owners and suppliers are becoming more aware of this fact and are starting to jump on board as well. I'm an R&D project...
Cap out a Roth IRA now, and in January 2018 and let it sit until January 2019. Take the rest and set it aside as a cushion. If you have enough, take a chunk of that (approx. 10%) and use it to play around in the stock market. If you're serious about investing, learn the stock market. A lot of...
Well I got it up again and went through every bolt to make sure it's tight. Everything was to spec. So now I'm out of options. It looks like I'm just going to have to take it to a shop and have them look at it.
It almost sounds like a bad bearing, but the bearings are perfectly fine. I think there's some rubbing going on with the driveshaft/exhaust, and tires/e-brake cable. I just bought my first house so I've been busy with it. I'm going to get it up on jacks again next weekend to see what's going on...
So drumroll please!!!! The clunk is gone! But about 5 new noises just popped up. I'm at a loss now. I'm going to throw in the towel and put out a call for help. Anyone reading this in the Phoenix area who can help me out? Beer and pizza is on me.
Bringing this back from the dead. I sent my center diff to get it rebuilt and it's mounted in the car. I will put in the axles tomorrow and everything. I also sent my aluminum driveshaft to get it shortened. There was no clearance to get this over the pinion nut.
LOL, you're the one who started off on recommending a different path by going boosted. It seems that OP isn't aware of what path to go to get efficient power gains by asking about expected gains from a tune on a stock motor, no offense OP. So it's only right to recommend different options. No...
Did you make sure the backlash is correct? I'm pretty sure what you're experiencing is coming from the diff. so an aluminum driveshaft would just make the buzzing louder as it transfers sound better than steel. If a shop did it, take it back as soon as possible and make them redo it. If you did...
I didn't say it was going to be cheaper. But after resale of you old motor you're probably going to spend less than an FI setup while also being more reliable. C head swaps should be good for about 315-325whp. If OP is wanting more, it's cheaper to consider a different option or else you're...
These motors are expensive to build NA for the hp gains due to it being dohc. If you want to stay NA, save up for a C head swap and keep your cams. If you want more than 350hp you'll have to go FI. Unfortunately these motors came off the show room with not much "unlockable hp".
Just looked at it sadly. The IRS is torn apart to be rebuilt with 4.56's I got everything in last week but AM back ordered the 4.56 gears. I love my G37S, but I haven't been able to drive my Cobra for a good 5-6 months now.
Usually I try to buy from American Muscle because they've always done right by me. I'm trying to do a full rebuild on a 2003 Cobra IRS center diff with 4.10 gears. Unfortunately, I've only rebuilt live axles and have no experience on what parts/kits are needed (I'm going to have a shop rebuild...
I don't think the reason why he did it is defined enough for everyone to say whether he was a coward or not. Did he actually commit suicide because he was afraid of taking the shit he dished out, or did he do it so his family can mourn and get over the fact he will never be around again? Ask...
I had the same kind of dent in the driver rear quarter panel as well. I just went through the trunk, took out the covering and poked a long wooden dowel rod about an inch thick with a round tip and start to pry it out. It popped out pretty clean.
