Fascinating that you were able to win the auction, and also have a trade pending with the seller.

Congrats, you will have a ball with this car. They are a lot of fun.

It is really good to hear that this transaction is complete. There are countless examples of car auction results, that push the market, that were beyond questionable. (easy with the "spend time with your wife and kids")

We knew it came with the original exhaust, and I promise you you will not use it. These cars sound fantastic with an alternative. I wish I could hear yours, as I have not ever seen an R with anything other than the Bassani.

Thank you for sharing some of the back story of your acquisition. You have a fantastic car, and you can enjoy it. Heck give your friend a ride with the wrapper R so he can see what he is missing out on!

Now all that's left is the wait for the transporter to bring it......

Considering I have owned #104 since 06, I am not sure about your offer. It also has 6600 miles on it.

I am glad we are realizing that when you grandma put plastic on everything, she did not know why she had done that.

I take delivery in about 2-3 days from AZ to WI (enclosed semi with ramp for $1700). Trade gets delivered Monday or Tuesday.

Comment about spending time with the wife and kids was due to the fact I had a cancer scare 3 weeks ago. A small mole was diagnosed with melanoma. Follow up dye tests and surgery resulted in the additional skin removed (15" of stiches!) as well as lymph nodes. 10 days later I learned everything was benign except the initial removed mole. Life can change at any moment so guess what? Go hug your wife(s) and kids and then get everyone to a dermatologist.

I look forward to meeting some of you!

I might be off on the number. I would have to check my unofficial database, but nevertheless it was a 93R with under 100 miles.

That makes perfect sense, I mis interpreted your comment (sorry). ABSOLUTELY, appreciate every day, and the loved ones around you. I wish you the best moving forward and that you are cancer free.

Sounds like you will be able to start enjoying the car vary soon!

Health and family are the most important things. Glad to hear you are ok. You have tapped into a small but really great group of people here on this forum. I’m sure you will enjoy the car and the community. Look forward to your thoughts once you get some seat time.

Congrats to the buyer; a 00R is a holy grail car for me. I might be in the minority of thinking when it comes to racking up miles on specialty cars though. I will use my Terminator as an example: it has low miles and driven on nice weekend days, and relatively short distances. I’m not “saving it for the next guy”, but as a car guy I feel like I am in a way preserving history. How great is it to see a nice 65 Mustang, or ‘70 Chevelle that hasn’t been driven to the moon and back?
I enjoy the ownership as much as the usage in cars like these. I like the act of preservation and care for other enthusiasts to enjoy, and sometimes envy. I do understand the want to drive and enjoy, which I do, but I would cringe at the thought of using it as a semi-daily driver, or even driving it on a long road trip.

I as well have had some life changing experiences, my wife of almost 30 years had a surgery that they claimed would not "I'll use the term, hurt her, and they almost killed her. " She has been in therapy for 4.5 years and I now take care of everything at home and our shop. I decided in 17 that money means nothing if you don't use it. When you are dead it is not going to be useful. I started buying those to things I thought I wanted and did not care what the price came out to be. GT350R, GT500CFTP, Porsche, I just need Ford GT now. But once this happens and you can afford it, do it. Hope you enjoy the R, I tracked mine for 14 years, great car.

We think alike in that regard. My 00R has roughly 1300 miles on the clock. It comes out for an occasional local romp. Each time it comes out, it is a fantastic experience. I would never daily drive mine or take it on a road trip. I like that it is pristine. Plus, if I drove it all the time, I’d become somewhat numb to how awesome it is!

I get that. You can't take it with you and if the kids are doing ok, spend some of it. My wife had a brain tumor 3 years ago, everything went fine and after 2 weeks she told me to go buy an R. So I flew to SC and bought a 2017 GT350R. Flew home that night and picked the car up a week later. Last June I took delivery of a 1966 GT350 race car that was on my bucket list. Looking for that GT as well. Enjoy everyone and everything now. Hope your wife gets better!

The R arrived Monday afternoon and is what I expected. There were a few cosmetic things I was not expecting, but overall I am happy with the purchase. I will be looking for some advice on a couple of things and a photo or two to get things back to where I want them. I had a 2003, 600 hp terminator for a short time and it was a blast. Only issue was the reach for the shifter.

Awesome! Congrats! The 00R is one of my 2 favorite Mustangs of all time! It’s a special car... you will enjoy the hell out of it!

You going to do any mods, or leave it as is?

The plan is to clean it up a little to address a couple of minor things and then use it as a driver with occasional club event use.

PO had removed the door glass so I need to get that put back in. Otherwise, no mods planned as of today.

It would be nice to get a different shifter or be able to move it back. In my '66GT350 race car we modified the Hurst shifter by reversing the upper handle and it is more comfortable to shift.

I had this one in my old fox body racecar:

    MGW Aftermarket Racing Shifters

Worked great with a T-5. Not sure about the T-56, though. If memory serves, the R comes with a B&M Ripper shifter, which I find pretty notchy.
