New model year, new drivetrain, more power and two of the most bad a$$ tuner shops in the country... both shops eagerly awaiting their order to arrive so they can void that warranty. Right now, Lethal Performance has the fastest tuner GT500 and it appears that Evolution Performance chose to send their 5.0 and Boss into orbit instead of the GT500....

This season... the circumstances may be different. Since the ZL1 decided to fall flat on it's face shortly after the QC hold was lifted. The Camaro ZL1 retains about as much interest with the public as the republican debates did. We hardly want to put the King of the Pony cars up against a competitor nobody has ever heard of. For the rabid Mustang fans... Never fear, there will still be Youtube videos of Mustangs with sunshine under the front tires and eventually... GT500's standing on their back bumpers.

First, Lethal Performance... I would say that Lethal P has a slight advantage for the up coming Tune-a-Thon seeing the results of their poster boy 2011.

While this tuner battle could play out as it did last year, Lethal P on the GT500 and Evo on the 5.0 and Boss however.... Evolution Performance's splash photo on their site would suggest that they will experiment with the 2013. Evolution Performance, Performance Parts & Accessories - Ford Mustang & Shelby Experts

When I say experiment what I really mean was compete head to head with Lethal P which will result in some of the fastest builds in a street car that has ever been. With these two behemoth tuners testing and tuning the best possible products... Videos, numbers and hardcore results will be plentiful and amazing to watch. You have to remember, Evo's GT stood on it's rear bumper.

Things have to be taken into account though such as;

1.) When the tuners GT500's are delivered, the time in which the car is received and the results are made public will be standard of measurement... No headstarts but by all means build away.

2.) I love both of these companies, I have seen most of their posted videos... To me, there really doesn't have to be a winner (Even though I am a PA native). If you simply cannot find a worthy opponent, your only choice is to put the best car against itself and let these maniacs go at it. It's all in good sport and it will be loads of fun.

That's pretty much it, I don't want to count any other tuners out by no means. I just want to see the top two American Mustang tuners improve on this....

Good luck to both Lethal Performance and Evolution Performance, to all the teams, crews, everyone in both shops and especially the drivers... Please, be safe and we are awaiting those videos and numbers....

To both shops, be more than clear on modifications when baseline and modified runs are made. It won't eliminate the doubters and fanboys, but it will prevent outstanding levels of embarrassment. See: GM releasing an 11 in their ZL1.

dont need more power, plus a tune will ruin the warranty. However cooling and handling/suspension will be the first thing I address...looking forward to this

really can't wait to see one of these two get one into the 9s weeks faster than any of the ZL1 tuners!

don't be surprised if we have to wait for a magazine for full disclosure of mods. both have worked with the magazines and will more than likely be working with them with the '13 as well.

Exactly what I was thinking - I can just imagine what so may shop owners are going to say about this. Someone will quickly note that many shops have their own in house tuners.

I think it's a great idea - just that the header having the words Tune-a-thon might be a little confusing. No disrespect at all just stating that I wouldn't be surprised if this competition is re-named to something more simplistic, pitting the two companies against each other in the race to create the baddest 2013 GT500.
