Why not just go on ebay, find the one you like. Fly to the dealer buy it for MSRP and drive home.

Easy to do if you want black w/ black or red stripes, SGM w/ black stripes and the other "common" color combos. I wanted SGM w/ Red stripes - kind of hard to find. Also, my local dealer has a great service department. Why ruin the good relationship I have with them.

Maybe he got a dealer's second or third allocation. I know Ford's system can be hard to predict, but a first allocation ordered at a later date may be likely to be filled earlier.

Could be. I do know mine was their third if not their fourth allocation. Like you said, they're system can be hard to predict. Just happy we're all getting the cars we want.

I appreciate all your support & I really glad that my order was finially pulled.
I was going back & forth since last Friday with my salesman .
Thats when I located the one in Texas .
Then my salesman asked me too hold off & he would find out more about my order from their dealer Rep.,& he did.
Then the General manger & car buyer there spoke too the induval at Ford that assigns Vin.,#'s & pulls orders.He stated that my order should have been pulled much sooner then it was pulled & he would assure them that it would be pulled & assigned a Vin.,# this week & schuled for production.
It was so.
Now I'm glad & no harm done my unit is schuled with a vin.,#& my dealer was true too getting me my unit
It was out of there control & Ford error there is only so much that they can control.

If i dont like the new generation, im planning to do just that with S197 model if local stealerships won't make deals.

I have base seats, not Recaros, and more than 60% of convertibles have the Recaros. Joseph also wants regular seats and more than 70% of coupes have Recaros. It can be hard to find the exact car you want on a lot and if this is your dream car, like it is for me, you don't want to compromise. Now that I have my car it is cool that it was custom ordered to my specs.

I received my Vin.,# today from dealership & schuled production is 8/12/13-through 8/16/13 of that week.
Now we are assured that we will receive our order.
Been waiting since 11/30/12,Deposit & DORA was on 12/7/12 order conformation from Ford.

Great news! I'm so happy for you. I know you must be relieved to finally get a VIN. I hoped you would post that you got it today. Congratulations.

As Ponygirl said, congratulations! I was very concerned for you that your dealer was stringing you along (and I still believe they were in that they had no allocation for you, but they finally got the extra allocation).

Regardless, you are getting your very own Shelby. The car is so worth the hassle and down the road you can share how difficult it was to get this car.

Well said, Ponygirl. I was following your "ordering saga" and it worked out for you. I totally agree with custom ordering the EXACT Shelby that you want - which is why you custom order it in the first place! I completely understand how you feel about the car you ordered, which is special to you.

My convertible is exactly what I wanted (and I am one of those who ordered a fully loaded model with Recaros). It of course is special to me, and I have a number of modifications that I have added, all while maintaining a subtle but clean look. I recently entered a local All Ford Car Show in Syracuse and took first place in the Shelby/Boss 302 category. I think I have something special.

Glad it seems to be working out for you. But your dealer is still full of a lot of BS. There is no person that pulls orders, assigns VINS, and schedules builds. It is all done by computer. And yes your order should have been pulled a long time ago, if your dealer would have had an allocation, it would have been. I'll bet anything your dealer purchased an allocation from another dealer. All is well that ends well as long as you receive your car, but your dealer has been extremely shady through this entire process. Just keep that in mind.

What you want may not exist, as was my case. And I am willing to wait.
Some people are willing to buy something " close to " what they want, if it means getting it sooner.
I have ordered my last 3 pickups & my 2011 Shelby..

Congratulations on your win, black with red is a killer combo, especially with the red cobra on the Recaros. You should post a photo with your mods, I think I recall you have different wheels, what else did you do?

Joseph you really had a saga. Staying the course with your dealer has paid off. I know several of us advised to switch dealers or find a car on a lot. Out of all the guys on the forum whose progress I followed I'll be happiest for you when you take delivery and I look forward to reading about each step along the way. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be following your progress.

It is amazing how I can care about people i never met or even talked to, I even tell my husband about you. I hope I can meet some of the other members here at a show sometime. Silver Springs Ford and Mustang Round up in Jan is always a large show that we plan to attend. We don't really show, just do a show and shine our club puts on.

I will definitely post a photo(s) of my modifications when they are fully completed. I am in the process of installing the final 3 modifications (worked on them a bit today). These include Bob's LED lights (30W LED fog lights, 2W LED license plate lights and 1W LED map lights - finished the fog lights today); the CustomCarGrilles.com top and bottom grills; and the Escort 9500ci radar/laser detector kit, which is quite involved and includes custom cutting of the lower grill to accommodate the laser detectors.

Completed modifications include Bob's Ultimate Firewall Mount oil separator; Airaid Blue Synthamax air filter; QuickLIFT Redline Deluxe hood struts; Jaeger mud guards; Roush side splitters; Roush rear splitters; Shelby floor mats with GT500 in red (matches the red stripes in the Recaros); Craigs No-Drill front license plate holder with custom New York state specialty plates; Shelby dash plaque w/VIN; Shelby ambient lighted sill plates reading "GT500" that lights up with my VIN in red lettering (just like the Shelby dash plaque VIN lettering) with the silk screened Cobra GT500 logo on one end and a custom silk screened "Built for My Name" on the other end (very custom and very unique!); Shelby trunk mat with Cobra GT500 logo; and of course my favorite mod - Shelby Alcoa Fifty Year wheels with MPSS tires.

Yes I will be glad when I take delevery.
My wife & I have a son & daughter-n-law that are OBGYN's,In seabring,Fl.,
My son is about too start up his mooney & fly the grandchildren down for 4-weeks.
We are looking forward too them comming down in Louisiana.
we go up there every year for the 12 hour seabring race & get free pit passes & where we want to go at this trac due too they work there as phisicans for the trac.
They are on stan by incase they are needed.

Sounds good. You asked me what I planned to do in May and I don't remember if I answered you as it was when I went down to my in-laws house and they don't have WiFi so I had just the phone for internet and wasn't posting much. I'm not planning any performance mods especially anything that would void my warranty. I do plan on a blue Airraid filter, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I have painted Redline hood struts, Lloyds Shelby GT500 floor mats and trunk mat and my personalized tag. I put MPSS on as quick as I could at 200 miles. I'm thinking about a GT500 shift knob but I'm unsure what colors would look best and feel if I can't decide I should just skip it for now.

For those who are looking for confirmation that the plant is up to speed yet, I had a build date for this week 8/5. Just got my window sticker available to review. Delivery is scheduled for next week 8/12. Now the awful wait.

Mine's scheduled the week of 8/12. My dealer sent me a confirmation from Ford giving the exact date of 8/13. I still can't pull up my window sticker. My '13 I could pull up a couple of weeks out.

For those who are looking for confirmation that the plant is up to speed yet, I had a build date for this week 8/5. Just got my window sticker available to review. Delivery is scheduled for next week 8/12. Now the awful wait.

Seems like some operations at the plant started around July 26 and went from there. My car was built the last week it was open in June - finished close to the last day but didn't "make it out the door" (Original delivery ETA was July 7-14). I followed up a few times and it was marked for transit on June 28th but didn't hit a rail car until the 26th of July - it's due at my dealer sometime this weekend/beginning of next week.
