They don’t make 1/4 of that around here unless they’re insane tenured lolol
How much should they make to teach preteens about cutting off their dicks?

Are we still talking about new vehicles?
How to say "I couldn't make it without sucking off the teat of government or a union" without saying it.How to say you know nothing about the profession without saying you know nothing about the profession.
Hopewell twp. is a rural/suburban district. Teachers unions are a scourge on society. Their only purpose is serve themselves, children be damned. How can you defend a kindergarten teacher making $100k plus a $20k health insurance, plus a pension, on a 6 hour a day schedule?Yep, clueless. Maybe in the big D cities where they are just warehousing the kids during the day and have zero ****s to give.
You're crazy if you think that is a normal teacher salary

IDK about down south but up in the north it doesn't take long to hit 6 figures as a teacher. Plus a pension, plus a platinum healthcare package, plus an easy 180 day schedule. It took my SIL 6 years to hit $108k/yr (as a gym teacher), and because it's what the rest of us consider a "part-time" job, she can have a career in real estate.
Those are not teachers. They are administrators. They have 11-12 month per year work schedules. They all are under the auspices of the NJ Teacher and Annuity Plan, and listed salaries frequently, but not always, include benefits packages as well. i.e. pension contributions by employer, health care costs, Medicare, unemployment insurance and workman's comp.Pay for your own college and stay out of my pocket.
Oh and those poor teachers, underpaid and putting in a tough 6 hour shift 180 days a year. GTFO with that shit.

I am married to a 3rd grade teacher, I LOL at the 6 hour day and only during the school year. She is one year away from retirement and far away from 100,000.
When teacher compensation gets out of whack, things like what happened in WI happen. There are a lot of states and cities where the union is definitely a scourge, no disagreement and the teachers reflect that.
As an outsider, it sounds about right. It would be interesting to get 13Cobra's take on it.Good take on current market.

you are absolutely right.
i processed payroll for public school districts for a long time.
regular k-12 teacher was 7 hrs per day, 10 months per year. average pay across the board was $100k... plus benefits and pension.
administrators were 12 months but their average salary was much higher.
granted, this was in a very expensive part of the country, but everytime i hear people say "poor" teachers are underpaid, i laugh.

My wife quit her teaching job to work a normal 9-5 job and now works WAY less...
Half the kids in my wife's 3rd grade class have an individualized teaching plan that has to be coordinated with all the other specialists. She had to evacuate her class again when one of the alphabet soup kids melted down, again. The school has to run a checklist and use a specialized blanket to wrap the kid up and haul him out. They usually wait for a cop to show up and do it. This has been a hard year for her, the lockdowns have ****ed up so many kids it's ridiculous.

I have two children that are autistic. Both had IDP’s. in 12 years neither were ever removed from a classroom or caused a disruption. They were never wrapped in blankets or screamed or hit their teachers. They never used profanity. Please do not generalize any child who has a disability and IDP as Alphabet soup kids that are this massive distraction. Some kids do fit your description but some clearly do not.Half the kids in my wife's 3rd grade class have an individualized teaching plan that has to be coordinated with all the other specialists.
