I know why they do this stuff, to breathe new life into a car 2-3 years down the road, but with the GT350, the "R" variant was the one EVERYONE wanted/wants. Why didn't they just make all of the 350's that? It would have made getting an "R" a moot point and prevented the insane markups.

Same will happen if the 500 has an R or KR variant. Who's going to want to base model? Then the R/KR becomes ADM through the roof. I just wish they made one version that was a monster and ANYONE with $85,000 can have one exactly as they want it.

    Thoughts? Love me?

    You have a point.
I’d prefer one model and pic any options YOU want.
If I go with a GT350 while waiting on the next GT500, I’d actually get a non-R as it fits what I’d like to do.
Would be great to choose the R wheels if was so inclined however.
My ‘14 GT500 is the first car Iever custom ordered.
I could have gone all options but I deleted the Track Pack, Shaker and cover as they made the car heavier and I didn’t need those things.
So, yes I’d prefer one model with all options.
Still, I’d also like to see a slayer KR model with no options :)
Just glad we’ll have a new 500 at this point.

These all have different motors and SIGNIFICANT prices differences.
The GT350R was not suppose to cost THAT MUCH more than a GT350. But it did due to demand and dealer greed.

James, I thought for sure I would see you posting pic's and reviews of your new Redeye by now? That way you can also give us some comparisons when you pick up the new GT500. ;)

I am hoping that the Redeye 2.7 supercharger drops enough in price that I can add it when I do my pulley swap next year.
    I'm thinking 800 rwhp on 93 oct. tune. :D

No, you’re going off of dealer markup.

The price difference between a 350 and an R was approx. $7000

Exactly my point. $7,000 more and yet nobody could come close to getting one at that price. So what happened? People either paid HUGE markups and got an R, or they had to settle for the base model. And since so few R's were made, even second hand R's were trading for crazy amounts.

If Ford just made the GT350 the R car standard, and made a few thousand a year...yeah the resale wouldn't have been as great, but you have A LOT more satisfied customers driving your product and becoming brand loyalists.

Dodge knows the Demon and the troubles finding one pissed off a lot of Mopar guys. Hence the Red Eye. Which is basically a Demon for normal street use.

I guess they could have done that minus the carbon wheels. Personally I dont see the issue, let them build special low numbered versions, theres already tons of cars I cant obtain so why not another lol

It's been mentioned before, Ford limits the number of builds for their high end cars specifically for resale. It's their way of taking care of the customer.

Plenty of guys have picked up Rs for MSRP and under. It would be really nice to buy a car, drive it for 3-5 years and sell it for exactly the same price, if not more than what you paid for it.

Your Demon wouldn't be worth shit if every Hellcat that came out was a Demon. It would lose $10k per year like the rest of them until it leveled off in the mid 40s. Nor would it be 'special'.

    1. Most people did not get R's at MSRP
    2. So Ford takes care of a lucky few, yet ****s over everyone else....grrrrrrreat
    3. NOBODY got an R for under MSRP...stop lying.
    4. The DEMON has value because it's 840bhp monster and only 3,000 in the US. But more than the # of them, is the performance for the buck. Look, I don't give a shit about resale, I DO give a shit about being able to buy a car without paying CRAZY ADM.
    5. Brands should reward those who are the most loyal, not let dealers SLAP DEM BALLS OFF the enthusiasts. Dodge tried to limit dealers that got Demons with ADM's but they totally ****ed it all up. You weren't suppose to get allocated a second car unless you sold your first at MSRP. Problem was dealers were just buying the cars, not titling them, and then BOOM, on Showroom floor for $150,000.
