Had to add my 2 cents for what its worth. Can attest to feeling and honestly believing that a cars sound and how you control it under load is 110% of the reason true car enthusiastic like myself love them. Haven't had over 50+ mustangs over the years including shelby's and cobra's and the new coyote motors its sad to say Ford f'd us with the sound of the coyote. Yes its great on power but sucks balls regarding sound. Only way it sounds good is 4 grand and up, the firing order isn't what we all grew up loving and Im surprised Ford it this to everyone. I've changed my exhaust a few times already, currently running ARH full catted and cat less x pipe system and I do not like it. Remember the times you could put just about any exhaust on a mustang and love it. You can't with these coyotes, they just don't have the tone we are after down low. Only reason I don't want to do a coyote swap in my foxbody is because of the sound.
Here is what we are dealing with here is the flat head v8 sound/coyote here is what we want

You make a good point, Ford did a great job with the new GT and their active exhaust. Also the stock tri y headers design I still believe helps the exhaust note. Even though the exhaust sounds weaker with out headers the stock coyote headers create a better tone.I love my coyote. Active exhaust in track mode sounds awesome
No, pretty much it's you. We use the Coyote exhaust note reaction for profiling purposes. Your reaction says you're likely to vote Democrat. There are other interpretations of the data, that is the kindest one.Man, Ive been to several meets and have heard alot of Coyote motors and their exhaust setup. I have yet to hear one that I think sounds very good. The motor is great but most do not sound very clean. I think some 4.6 4v (cammed) motors sound amazing, and I am a fan of nearly every pushrod exhaust note, but the 5.0 DOHC just doesn't sound very good to me. Anybody else feel this way? It just sounds too run-of-the-mill and generic, not enough character or soul in the sound.

Honestly I’m also concerned about how my Coyote swapped ‘93 Cobra will sound. It had a baby cam modded 302 with a Prochamber to 2-chamber Flowmaster exhaust and I could listen to that car for days.
Part of the S197/S550 cars is muffler placement, but I’m going Prochamber to Borla XS mufflers for the Coyote Cobra. Also going to make an H-style connection under the IRS to duplicate the exhaust that was on my ‘04 Cobra.
Only time will tell.
Gotta love the modern performance, but can’t help but miss the old school rumble.

Im pretty sure its partly due to the firing order and even more due to the mufflers being at the end of the system. All other cars sound so much better with the mufflers ahead of the rear axle/tailpipes.
Prochamber/2 chamber flows on a pushrod 5.0 sounds incredible.
My old '01 GT with a Dr. Gas X pipe and 2 chamber flows sounded AWESOME, even though it was quite slow..lol
