Hey gang,

New guy here.

Wanted to say hi and ask some quick advice. Have been reading the site for some time and I think I have my plan laid out...so now is your chance to tell me I am doing it all wrong, lol.

Just got the car a month ago $17k,'03 Cobra, 52k, purchased from the original owner. Black(fuh), I fart in the car and there's a new scratch when I get out...wished I would have known about the paint issues...getting sprayed in the spring. Bone stock.

I have 6k-8k to put into it.

Now, I am new to the boosted 4.6 but not to building cars in general. Already have Driver Mod. First thing I am going to do is put the FTBR kit in it...the big one that replaces everything. Next is tires, this thing laughs at the F1's on it...probably M/T or Hoosier...I learned my lesson long ago with DR's and big HP. If I can't hook-up now, why bother making more power.

Then...American Muscle/SCT/Bama Tunes, 60lb,BAP,MAF,JLP, x-pipe,cat back, Posi port, 2.76, Diff cover/brace, clutch/26 spline, AeroForce. Then the JUICE. Not in that order of course.

I have a couple question's. Do I need bigger pumps...say the GT's? Also, I am hoping to get 550rwhp with the above, with a 75-100 (dry)shot I am hoping for 600+...does this sound reasonable? Am I missing something?

Should I say bag all that and go KB/Whipple? I realize there are other (big)costs associated with that route.

Thanks for any input and glad to be here!

Nice, you've done your research. Fgt pumps and dual fpdm will get you past 550 and will fufill your goals. If I was to start fresh now, a nice return system with a 2.9 whipple. Just up the boost as you want more power and fuel would be done. Not a fan of the giggle gas and refills.

Hmmm..what am I looking at $ wise(ballpark) going 2.9?

The NO2 would be for those "special" occasions that never happen, ie. Viper's, ZR1's, Supra's, etc. But, if the Whipple Way is a better option, I am willing to research that, since I have zero money in mods right now.

The budget play is a ported eaton with spray no contest. A 2.9 whipple is from 39 to 53 hundred just for the blower crusher or no crusher. The Crusher inlet is useful in high boost applications.

And new rims? Not feeling the current ones but if you like them..cool..

Yeah, I know what you mean. The previous owner spent a bundle(have all receipts), the center caps are engraved with Cobra's and the SVT logo...kinda cool. But, the rest of the wheel is pretty "meh"...so they will be gone as well.

Hmmm...$3900, sounds doable. Would have to look into supporting mods...

Will do!

Thanks! I absorb this stuff like crazy. My girl calls this site "car porn", I spend so much time on here, lol.

You forgot the very first, and most important mod, to do to any Cobra.

FLSFCs.

AHAA! You're absolutely right!

I knew there was something...the traction/rearend/subframe area seemed light and thats what it was. Absolutely a must, first thing.

I would have had my $ spent and been pissed that I splurged on something, only to remember half way into the build that this NEEDS to be done.

Thanks man.

Also, anybody that has any of the mentioned items in "used' condition, feel free to contact me. I am not afraid of used parts and have passed along many a good item to other car guy's.

The buying will begin the first of the year with a finish date of April/Mayish(darn rain).

Good looking Terminator you bought. And your plans, and the advice given above, is pretty solid. I've got nothing to add to what has already been said. Just saying 'hi' and welcome!

If you don't mind running around with 490-520rwhp all the time a ported upper/lower ported eaton with spray is a deadly bang for the buck combo.

490-520 should be reasonable on the blower only with an upper/lower pulley comob.

A 75-100hp dry or wet shot should get you 600rwhp or a tad over on a ported eaton.

If you are starting from a clean slate run a return fuel setup right off the hop. Having plenty of fuel on tap will keep these engines together as the power goes up.

From someone who definitely knows a thing or two about fuel delivery!:beer:

Not enough fuel has killed more pistons than over heated engines and I/C systems though both certainly need attention as power builds and BTUs increase.

Thanks, I appreciate the welcome...have read many a post of yours, always informative.

Thanks for the advice...will now research that very thing. My main goal, since this car has had nothing done to it, is to do it the right way the first time.

congrats and welcome

Thanks! Sorry about that loss to the Patriots...I watched my Packers lose to the damn Chiefs!!

Yeah...I know what you mean. Already dealing with the Alternator issue...
