Dude just picked up the P-51 Roush yesterday and the smack talking started right away. I'm not a big fan of the new body style, but I have to say the green accents on silver is nice... so is the plate in the engine compartment with 510hp/510torque. Weight is somewhere around 4400lbs... fat boy.

Hard to call a car like that stock, but it's fresh off of the showroom floor.

The 02' Z06 is stock with the exception of maybe an air filter and exhaust. Weight is somewhere around 3300 lbs?

Straight quarter mile run. Maybe 3 goes. Say drivers are similar. How will this go? I want to say that P-51 should take him by atleast a car or two, but it's such a pig!

Race should happen soon with all the smack talk.

You are reading the door sill plate, and that is not the weight. the most that car weighs is 3600lbs. The z06 is a strong runner even in in c5 trim. They are a mid to high 12 car with a capable driver. My thoughts are it will be a driver's race, but being the mustang's race to lose.

If you figure, the Roush 427R is 0-60 in 4.7, with 70+ less HP and Torque. So, I'd say the P-51 is easily a low 12, high 11 second car. Also seeing as the 427R is a mid-high 12 second car. It should be a good race. Try to get it on video.

I hate to say it, but if the Mustang is at the appropriate weight, and not the one stated in the OP, then I would imagine he'll take it if driven well. Definitely get it on video!

Would take a Z06 with perfect driver and perfect conditions to pull a win... Mustangs race to lose IMHO.

He must have just grabbed the gross weight from the door.

No on the runflats. He has a set of firestones. Not sure which model. Car isn't here today.

it all depends on the driver really. But with both being good drivers i would say the stang has the advantage.

You should brake that badboy in before you start romping it. Then run him.

+1 let the car losen up a bit and it will run a lil quicke.

If the mustang loses I will be pretty shocked.

A stock c5 z06 running high 11's, ok yeah so then you must think the new z06 runs 10's stock? They are fast aerodynamic cars but there not that fast

ya that is like the record on stock runflats it is an 11.1 with the c6z and in damn good conditions not every car will run that. And the same goes for the c5z with both cars and the average driver the stang will have the advantage.

MM&FF got a 12.20 out of a stock automatic 427R in the may 2008 issue
