Worked out the details and signed conract on Monday. Build is scheduled to start within the next couple of weeks. Talked to the concrete guy yesterday and looks to be on board as well. Will try to get up some pics as soon as it's built pre concrete work then afterwards.. Wish me luck fellas. Been wanting this for a while now..

Miguel, is this a shop for your personal use? Or will it be a business?

Best of luck with it. You should post photos as the shop progresses.

Was just gonna ask the same thing, is this a business start up or in your backyard for personal use? Any details on your build, dimensions, etc.? My dream is to build a 20'x24' in my backyard to house my Cobra and have room to tinker, just a place for "me."

Congrats man.

Were you able to design it yourself?

And put in all the dream features that we all want?

14ft ceilings, lift(s), washroom(maybe even a full bathroom), fully insulated with heat and AC. I could go on and on...............

What's the one thing that you absolutely had to have.

If I ever get to build mine I want a big indoor wash & wax bay with really good lighting. Or maybe even a paint booth.

Sorry guys for not elaborating but yes it will be a personal shop. Will have a bathroom, insulation, plenty of lighting, manroom lol, and should be plenty of room for working on vehicles and do a little carpentry. Going to be a 24' by 30' with 10' walls. And yes I will definitely have a lift in it...... by next year lol.. I don't think I'll be swingin it after dropping what I'm dropping on the building as is lol.. Wish me luck. Oh and VirginiaFiveo I'm subscribed to that thread and plenty of ideas from it will be going towards my own.. It is a great thread.

That's badass. My brother and I were just workin on his car on the garage floor last night and grumbling about how much we need a damn lift lol. That would be the first priority in my garage and the plans would look like this:

1. Lay cement floor.
2. Install lift.
3. Build walls.
4. Do everything else.

:lol1:

Aw, I see. Well, get ready for all of your "friends" to start asking you to do work on their cars in your new shop. Partly to then be able to chill with you in your man-room. :lol1:

As suggested above, have you considered going with 12' walls since you're installing a lift? Maybe at least in the area of the lift?

let me know if you want any suggestions. i didn't build my shop, but it is perfect in every way, shape, and form for what i need it for--just doesn't have a john. i would suggest a separate 'dirty room' for storing unsightly crap that you don't want near your car(s), as well as to house the air compressor (loud).

i'll add in some info on my shop below.
