Got Scammed! Need Legal Advice And Any Information On This Guy!

UPDATE: This has now become a criminal case instead of a civil case.
The detective on my case contacted him today. He recorded the conversation with they guy verifying his name, verified that the intent was to sell me a 2001 Lightning and verified that I paid him $15,000 for the truck and the funds were recieved by him and that I do not have the truck. Also recorded that he will pay my money back by April 12th. If he does not, or txt's me and says he's not paying anytime before the 12th, he will be picked up and charged as criminal for theft of $15K.
This is going to be the longest week of my life!

Op, glad to hear you are making some good progress. The seller is a complete fool and obviously spent up some of your money. If he had any integrity, he should have never considered that money his until that truck was physically in your possession and the title was signed.

Just out of curiosity, what did you say to the police, or what evidence did you provide to get them to pursue this matter?
I know earlier in your thread you mentioned only having a check with VIN on both names.
Was that enough for them?

Good luck buddy. I can't fathom how people sleep at night knowing what they have done to others in this situation.
