Really? I rock the Reef's all summer long.
I got a weird thing about having a strap between toes. I wont go past the front yard in sandals, lol.

I know, right? At least get a nice leather slingback sandal. ... oh, wait, that would be for an AK. I don't know what accessories work with a SCAR.

Are you in the RVA area, and if so, did you purchase locally? I am trying to get my hands on an FDE 17 to complete the collection on SCARs, and they are difficult to find around M'Ville and RVA. Sub-$2800 for the purchase?

I'm in Winchester. I did some work for a local shop and they had it hanging on the wall so I negotiated trading my time for a deal on it. Sticker price was $2899. They had two FDE 16's as well but they sold the same day that I picked my 17 up.

Picked this up last week. Undecided on an optic for it

My goto suggestion is always an Elcan Spectre lol. It costs more than the rifle but I am going to buy one someday and never sell it. Awesome rifle though!

Just placed an order for the new HK VP9SK pistol. High demand and low supply means I will likely have to wait 1-2 months. My gun dealer will only get 2-3 of them through distributor allocation. I have a $150.00 gift certificate from my daughter for this dealer, so it's timely that I can use it towards the purchase of my HK. My friend has the VP9 and I was really impressed, but I prefer the compact. It's slightly bigger than my S&W Shield, and has features that I wish my Shield had. As much as I love my Shield, I expect that the VP9SK will become my favorite.

Which features does the VP9 have that the Shield doesn't? I'm unfamiliar with HK pistols.

Shorter trigger take-up/reset, lighter trigger pull, backstrap size options, ambi controls, 10 round mags, legit 1913 rail, more pronounced rear serations as well as front serations, finger notches in the grip and mag extension.

I think that's it

Yep, that's most of the differences. I actually just picked up my HK VP9SK this afternoon. ;) The adjustable grip feature (interchangeable backstraps and lateral grip panels) is huge for me because it is easily modified to fit any hand. The molded finger grooves in the front of the pistol’s grip (and on the extended floor plate magazine) make it feel so comfortable in my hand. That should translate to higher accuracy at the range.

Can't wait to get it to the range on Friday. I'm going to be shooting both this new HK VP9SK and my Shield so I'll be able to compare the shooting differences first hand. I am really expecting the HK to be more accurate and easier to shoot. Mainly due to the enhanced trigger and superb feel/fit in my hand.

It also has a red loaded chamber indicator that is kind of nice to have.

My Shield grip is much thinner. The HK VP9SK fills my hand perfectly. Actually feels like an extension of my hand. I'll continue to like my Shield, but this HK has me excited. More on Friday after I get back from the range.

wow 1-2 month wait, you must have a lot patience. Looks like the 10rd is hard to find online.

Shorter take up by how much? We're talking fractions of millimeters here right?

Congrats Bob I've held the HK before, my dealer's best price is currently $629, how did you do? Also have you added any type of grip to the shield?

This will end badly for you with the HK. You will shoot the Shield, then the VP9, and never touch the Shield again except for when you either sell it, or trade it in. The disease will spread through your brain, and eliminate all self control as you browse in your local GS only to see other HKs, thinking "will that shoot just as well as my VP9?". Weeks later you have multiple HKs. It happened to me with this VP9 tactical.

Then the 45....

Then a couple of USPs, P30s, etc. It is an expensive disease only matched by the Sig disease.....

Save yourself!

Got my rifle back from Rifle Dynamics painted in the correct color. Slapped together an M&P 15-22 with a BCM NIB trigger pack and magpul furniture. Got my SBR stamp in and slapped together a Scorpion EVO pistol

I started out with a Vortex Razor 3-18 which was great for long range plinking but way too heavy. Changed it out for a Leupold Mk6 1-6 which I seemed to like over the Elcan 1-6x.

I'm leaning towards a 1-4 PST or an ACOG. I have my .308 AR setup for longer range, so I'd like to play to the CQB nature of the SCAR

That's the exact price I paid, $629. Most gun stores don't have these in stock. The range/store I usually use had them on pre-order for $649.

No, I haven't added any grip to my Shield. That's an option, but if I'm going to make the HK my standard carry, I'll leave it as is. I'm anxious to get to the range Friday to compare the accuracy between the two.

LOL. I have a feeling that you might be right. I don't see me selling the Shield because it's a limited edition Performance Center piece. But time will tell. :)

Can I ask how much you paid for your VP9 Tactical? I'm pretty sure that's what my friend carries as his duty pistol. He's a local cop.

We are cut from the same cloth.
I love my HK's. To me they are better than sigs especially when cleaning them. I prefer them to almost anything else especially the shields.
The pistol I am saving for now is a smith and Wesson .45 acp performance center 1911 in the 4.25 barrel.
