The reason I want one:
1) Personal protection/home defense

Other uses:
2) Training/target shooting/hobbiest
3) CC, but only after I'm very proficient/confident at 2)
4) Lose it in a boating accident

I don't plan on being a collector of firearms, but would like a revolver and a tactical shotgun (but owning one of those appears to be a PITA).

Just an FYI, I don't know the rules in your state, but in TX (before constitutional carry was passed) if you did your permit qualification with a revolver that was all you were allowed to carry. If you did it with a semi-auto you could carry either.

Also, we all say we don't plan on becoming a collector. Don't bank on it LOL.

The only thing I like to collect is money, but I'm not very good at that. This is just another tool, imo.

Thanks for the advice on the permitting. I'm in Wisconsin and I'll check it out.

Great weapon for a first gun IMO would be something like a Beretta 92fs. Weapon that has a hammer, safety, DA/SA. No, I no longer(military) want to carry a Beretta on me. But nothing says you can only own one, baby steps.

I'd recommend this for all occasions and a first weapon. Although I don't want a safety on my carry.

Let's not talk about the lack of ammunition of a shotgun and recommend a wheel gun in the same breath. I could never get into a revolver. I feel they are weird and ancient technology. But that's just me.

Do you always defend your home from 500 yards out? J/K

One of the best 9mm's out there. I recommend the parker mountain machine comp if you wanna spring for a threaded barrel.
Indeed, love my two VP9’s

Jealous, around here, pack it up, half hour drive, range fees, pretty much 200 yard limit, blah blah. I get why you reload, I'd go broke on ammo if it was that easy.

Been using a Ruger Precision Rimfire lately. After fees and ammo .308 was $150‐200 a go with okay ammo. Plus now having to have ammo shipped to a FFL and pay that fee. Still go at least every other week.

Building a new toy that'll bridge the gap in 5.56 (what I have but barrel is Wylde). 308 is overkill and 22LR is cool but kind of boring and not putting a long range optic on my 14.5.
