So this will probably be the death of me... but I'll go out in blaze of blue smoke and a smile on my face.

This is an early model 2001 Service Honda CR500AF. Around 50 RWHP. :p Bought it to ride with my buddies when I'm up in Michigan visiting.

Nice man! Those things can be pretty nasty.

Those old bikes of that era defined what a power band was.

Goes from doggy turd to “I’m killing you” pretty quick.

Yeah I know all about the stories of the mighty CR500. I will definitely be on my best behavior until I get some time on the bike under my belt. I'm almost 60 now so I'm not going to go enter any of those vintage MX races or anything.

The early model 500's had a much shorter gearset from Honda with a bit more radical porting. The later engines were a bit more refined, but not much. This bike has been ported by Cycle Station and does 3rd gear holeshots like nobody's business.

Nice!! I sold a cherry kx500 2 years ago and have been looking for another recently. I might go Honda this time.

There are a few AF's that have been for sale locally. I like the idea of the newer frame and suspension geometry coupled with that beast of a motor.

This holds me over for now.

Hit the pipe... haha... no such thing! A 500 2 stroke is always on the pipe. There is no ramp up like a 250. They are torquey as hell right off the bottom.

They almost ride like modern 450 four strokes.

That's in great condition.

Awesome buy.

My dad the KX500. Was scary af taking it on a track a few times.

Made my 450 4 stroke feel tame.

Yes, it does not 'appear stock'. That's got to be a monster. I'm 62, ridden most of my life and I'd prolly hurt myself just starting it, much less riding it.

Nice bike!

The YZs were where it's at when it comes to power bands. The 125 and 250 i had were insane.
