If you would’ve told me 10 years ago that I’d be buying a truck purely to drag race, I probably would’ve laughed. Well, that’s exactly what I’ve done. Back in August, I ordered a stripped down single cab, 2023 XL 4x4 5.0 and took delivery 6-October. My first goal is hitting high 12’s on the stock tune but there currently isn’t time for making any test & tune night. I'll be working 7-10+ days until late November so, until then, I’m testing via Dragy runs during my commute.

I'll limit this thread to the progression of getting quicker in the 1/4 mile because who cares about appearance updates and floor mats?

Well, that’s all I have today. I’ll report back when I have more data to share.

Having constructed a first draft of a 5" CAI, I made a pass this morning. Even with cool air and a favorable DA, the humidity was 88%.

E85, spare removed, 4Hi, TCS off/AdvanceTrac on
5" CAI and no muffler

Managed to squeak out a better 330 and 1/8 mile time but still riding the speed limiter* beyond 1000'. (*More on that later today)

Shit! Progress!
What's next on the achievements list?

Pretty insane that a pretty much stock 3 ton pickup truck is just as quick as a stock Terminator.

I’m having a ball. Going to continue to see how far I can get on the stock tune.

I’d have to weigh it to be exact but stock is stated to be 4275#

I have a SCT X4 delivering tomorrow and I’m going to immediately raise the speed limiter to probably 125 mph. No real need to go any faster until I upgrade the driveshaft. We’ll find out together how far it’ll go on the stock tune as is. Also delivering tomorrow is a Magnaflow muffler and I’ll try to get that installed by the weekend.

Working 8 days a week is tough.

Furthermore, I’ve had a GT350 intake modified to fit the Gen 4 heads and it should come in sometime next week. I’ve also been sitting on an IHC 3/5 lowering kit and a set of KellTrac street/strip DA Viking shocks delivered today.

Getting into the 12’s on the stock tune was fun but let the march to the 11’s begin!

Im Uber jealous of the weight. RCSB is 1000lbs lighter than my SCrew Ecoboost.

Are you getting any wheelhop? I get it badly launching from 2000rpm or higher where it just feels like the whole back end is jumping around.

Also, want a front diff brace? I have a VAS Fab one for the 2021+ 4x4 trucks that i didnt use since it hit my FX4 skid plate. If you want it let me know. Just pay the shipping.

It has hopped on occasion right after launching but not much. Felt like hitting an expansion joint on an overpass but I suppose once I start adding power that will intensify.

That’s awfully generous of you and I’ll graciously accept. Please PM me more details.

No updates to speak of lately.

Have an airbox and inlet plenum from Whipple on order.

Example:

This will complete the cold air intake project. The lid has a larger outlet and the filter has more surface area. It draws air from above and below the core support. The plenum is also much larger and resistant to collapsing under load.

I will finish the install off with a Cobb Tuning radiator cover that allows even more airflow than the stock design without the aforementioned flexing issues associated with the OE part. Surely this only applies to the forced induction trucks but mine could very well be one, eventually.

I've also installed an old Magnaflow muffler temporarily until I have time to build something more permanent.

GT350 intake swap soon...
