Astonishing indeed. That is not the Jupiter I know. Those pictures are very much different from what I've seen in the past. Very cool.

It’s crazy to think how insignificant we are and these huge planets are just chilling in deep space lol.

Just a bit more mass and we would have another star. Crazy.

So amazing...I can't imagine what the weather is like on the surface with all those storms.
As someone looking in to grad school after I finish my meteorology bachelors I can tell you that you'd be pretty surprised at the amount of education, time, and money devoted to the study of weather on our neighbors in the solar system.

Are these true color photos or are they black and white photos color enhanced here on the ground? According to the Netflix documentary, Voyager took and transmitted black and white photos and the color was added here; they were able to take/transmit much higher resolution photos in black and white.

**edit**
They appear to be color enhanced.
"Mind boggling" in the caption of the polar storms photo is 110% correct

NASA almost never puts out "true color" images. Any space image you see from NASA has a 99.9999999% chance that it's been image enhanced. They're beautiful pictures, but it's sometimes frustrating that they won't just post up images as they would appear to the human eye. Some of the stuff I see through my telescope is still beautiful without having to be processed. The gas giants look awesome! Although, Neptune and Uranus just look like blue and green globs.

The crazier thing is that as far as we know Jupiter doesn't have a surface in the sense that there would be a "ground" that you can stand on. It's a massive ball of gas.
