Looks pretty good. There are a few things that need to be tweaked but I can say for a fact it's a better quality build Mustang than any I've driven before.

I love it.

Again, I'm going to have to do something with the taillights when I get my car, but I have a plan for the Driving lights.
I'm gonna' ditch those.
Put in a V6 grill, and then the driving lights I'll likely put under the grill in the front bumper towards the center, ala Eleanor from gone in 60, or I'll replace them with smaller projector style beams or fogs and again wire them into the air dam or possibly behind the grill
As far as turn signals go, I might just think about using some bondo to clean that all up, and again turn signals under the grill, or something, and side markers probably got some euro style marker lights and put them on the side, or something like that.
Just a few things that'll clean up the car.

The side markers/turn signals might never happen, may just leave em' alone, but I can't imagine it'll be hard to find a V6 owner who wants the driving light setup

DO i like the car, yes. DO i like it as much as my cobra, no. It is a nice car and needs a bit of tweeking. I think within a few years the car will be outstanding. Nothing tops the look of the older mustangs (personally my favorite is the 69-70 style). I am 26 and i would give up my cobra in a heartbeat for a 69 or 70 MAch 1 or Boss.

I can't believe a lot of people are bashing retro syling. Yes it can be overdone but i think the new car is done pretty good, I'd say a B+...Everyone that says retro styling sucks is pretty much saying Ford shouldn't have stlyed the new GT after the GT40, because that is VERY retro.

My $0.02.....

True that!

Personally, I love the new 05', but that guy is an asshole to everyone for no reason.
SN95 was gorgeous. New Edge was pretty good looking, but personally this new car is my favourite -

Doesn't mean I go ragging on other people. I'd love an 04' mustang, sure! But that just isn't really my taste as much as the 05'...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, right or wrong, but nobody is entitled to treat others like shit for no reason at all other than what body style they prefer.

Anyways, hood pins... Wow. HARDCORE TO THE XXXTREME!

I love the '05. At first I thought it was kind of boring but more I see it more I like it. It should come without the 4x4 look but that can be easily fixed.

I have yet to see it in person, just pics. The dealer gave me a call about test driving one when they get it in so Im just waiting for a call then we will see.

I'm not opposed to Ford using some retro styling in moderation, but Ford went waaaay too far with this car. From the rear and sides, the car appears much less agressive than the SN95's, but the front just about ruins the new Mustang. The design team may have meant to emulate the large grille of the 1st generation cars, but this thing looks ridiculous. The thing looks like it rammed into the back end of truck. Where the SN95's looked aerodynamic, this thing looks like a brick, and who the hell designed that front bumper, or the foglights?:xpl:

Styling isn't everything though, and mechanicaly the new 'stang is light years ahead of the Fox platform based Mustangs in terms of weight distribution, chassis stiffness, powertrain, and handling. Unfortunately, it also weighs more, even with the live axle (cheap bastards:kaboom: ). Once you factor in the IRS and and blown iron block motor for the Cobra, then it will probably weigh in at 3,700-3,800 lbs. At that point, it would be more of a compeditor to something like the BMW M5.

What scares me about the direction that the new Mustang is being taken is that Ford had stated at one point that they wanted to "market the Mustang as a compeditor to BMW". Unfortunately, I think that this design is already moving in that direction. Instead of being marketed as a "ponycar" (V6 & GT), or a musclecar (Mach 1, Cobra) that was targeted at younger people in thier 20's-30's, this new car looks as if it is intended to appeal primarily to older buyer even at the expense of losing appeal to younger buyers, putting the Mustang's future in jeapordy. So essentially, the Mustang is quickly becoming a "sport-luxury car" along the lines of the GTO, BMW 5-Series, G35, etc. If that happens, and the Mustang loses appeal to young buyers like me that grew up around Foxbodies and SN95's, then it's days may be numbered.

What I like about it:
  1. The new roofline/quarter windows
  2. C-scallop replaces fake C-scoop
  3. Interior
  4. The clean hood
  5. Chassis/Powertrain/Suspension
  6. Exhaust tone
What I don't like:
    1. The huge bland ass
    2. It's larger/longer/higher profile, larger than some sedans
    3. It looks about as aerodynamic as a Peterbilt
    4. The stupid looking headlights/foglights
    5. The grille, the front bumper, basically the whole front end
    6. Taillights looks much less aggressive
    7. The mufflers are visable:nonono:
    8. The mirrors are FUGLY
    9. Both 17" wheels are ugly (and the Torque Thrust knock offs don't look as good as the last ones), and don't fill out the wheel wells.
    10. No 18" wheels!
    11. The 245/55's look skinny from behind and bloated from the side compared to the current GT's tires.
    12. It's almost 200lbs heavier than the current GT, even with an aluminum block.
In person, it looks too long.

Damn straight...I loved the concept and feel like the end product came up short....I've already seen a vid of a couple of new 05's and get this......They were runnin mid to low 14's :nonono:Stock and on street tires of course...But nonetheless...I figured it to be at least in the high 13's..
This means high 14's, low 15's up here in the TX Panhandle...:cryying:

I really like it.

I just think many feel the same way about this Musty as the 99' Mustangs. Remember? They looked too much like the V6, GT owners actually complained and they put the hood/side scoops, and more distinguishing items on the car.

I think the next Cobra will be my next vehicle, this Mustang will grow on everyone;-) .

EDIT: I own page 3! :p

I am agree. I'm 18 btw. oh and the design is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to watered down from the original GORGEOUS concept model Ford gave us.

I finally saw one in person yesturday at a car show, it was a black GT and it reinforced my initial thoughts, in its current form to me its plain, the body/hood does nothing to 'excite' me and the interior dash/console is similiar to my wifes 04 F150 FX4 truck. I am sure Ford will tweak it like it does every year but for this year I am not into it and I am glad I purchased the 03

Its ugly and its big. I have a feeling this one might go flop.

I saw the size of that damn thing parked next to a 03 cobra this weekend. Huge...

It has the lines of a new Chrysler 300C, or whatever that bently looking knockoff is called. Thats enough for me to know.

I myself like the direction ford as a whole is going retro with thier cars, the GT, Mustang, etc. I like the car but like everyone else has stated it needed to stay more in line with the concept (love that version). The concept really stood out, but the production version took a more conservative turn (read somewhat boring). I do like the interior however the gauges make me feel like I am sitting in my 68, and the color change feature is cool but that could get old, and something that could go bad down the road after some use. I dislike the steering wheel, but you can't go wild with the design of those anymore because of airbags. I wish they would consider doing a coupe, I like the coupes more than anything whether it be a fox body or classic. If they did I would want it to have the biggest engine and best suspension, but everything else be plain jane, just a stripped down brash muscle car. Well that is my rant sorry if I went too long.

I drove by a dealership today and saw a black one w/ gold stripes. It was awful. Maybe a solid red one would look good. I think i'm going to go check one out tomorrow.
