Yea. I don’t care for them at all. Made the choice easy for a Mach 1. I wanted a 350R but the engine issues always worried me. Being that this is basically a 350R without the FPC I was good with it. I can make up the power with e85 and a tune. And it’ll spin 8-8500 if I want it to. I do wish it came with 4piston rear brembos though. I will say that
You made a smart decision between the GT350R and Mach 1. The more I view your photos, the more I love it. IMO the best looking Mustang (S550 and S650), with the GT350 and GT500 close behind. By the way, I love the hood (reminiscent of the Terminator hood), and the thin red center outline.

Any plans for the grill circles? Additional air intake? Fog lights like these?

In theory it can absolutely work well in a given range. Most recently, I like GM's crack at it. But when you compromise for production and to meet a given budget, you are asking for longevity issues. It is most certainly not the most robust Coyote variant in production form. They're fun but if you're going to track one you'll never know when it decides to pull its own pin until things get ugly and the fun is over...

I loved mine. Miss it to this day. I just wanted a bit more power and wasn't willing to shed wasted tears on the impending doom if I cranked up the wick and pushed it to 11.
I gotcha, that's exactly what my fear was.. These thing all dyno at 460rwhp too So they're very underrated from the factory.. i'm looking forward to my first track day with it. Hopefully I can get out there in December
That is sharp!

Add the IRS bracing to your mod list, makes a tremendous difference without impacting ride quality. I did the BMR CB005 setup on my car.

Right now I'm going over in my head what to do about the torn drivers side diff bushing that Ford DOES NOT sell by itself, they make you buy an entire rear subframe. It's a very common problem, apparently the Shelby and Mach 1's had a bit of a better bushing for the rear diff mounts but it's something to keep an eye on.
I'll have to look into that. I'm slowly building a to buy list.. But I'm trying to keep it short because I need to get Medusa back up and running, I have everything for that in a separate account but just trying to not go crazy.
Beautiful. I love the Mach 1s. There was one at the track a week ago that really caught my eye.

Remove the side louvers and she's perfect

God that thing is sexy. I was going to remove the drivers side one for tracking because it basically goes directly to the intake.. But that's if I don't do the mods I have planned. I love the fog lights too..

Right now the plan is as follows
Shaun@AED tune, 93/flex/e85
Some sort of bigger and nicer intake. PMAS makes a true fenderwell CAI
Possibly a cat delete. I haven't decided on that part yet.

The engine power goal is to be close to 500rwhp with a good useable powerband.

Suspension:
Steeda Dual rate magnaride ultimate handling springs mainly to get it a little bit lower
Sounds like I need to add some subframe IRS bracing

Right now it has Steeda jacking rails, H pipe resonator delete, and FRPP hood struts

So it's pretty cool. I already did a ton of work to the paint and undercarriage and wheels. car is beautiful

Surely yours is lighter though right? Bet it scoots at 500whp.

Sent from my motorola razr plus 2023 using Tapatalk

this is true, curb weight was around 3500lbs stock. It was fun around 500hp, shoulda left it there tbh. Makes more like 700 now

That is a very nice ride sir. I like it a lot. Ive been looking at Mach 1s myself since my pristine 16 GT premium with PP was totaled. I like it much better than the 24s. Just don't like the looks of the 24s at all.

You made the right move. Gorgeous car.

One thing. This...

Stay on top of corroding hubs. Ford did a great job designing the S550 hubs but they neglected any corrosion concerns. I'd be spending time at each corner (rotors off) knocking off any scale, hand sanding/dressing, and then chemically etching via a brush and an anti-corrosion solution. Rotor hat faces need attention too.

Maybe some Metal Rescue Gel and a Scotchbrite Pad would remove that rust easier.

I used the liquid form with a Scotchbrite Pad few years to remove rust on an EGR Valve. It worked great.

Awesome man. I sold my fox 2 years ago and bought a S550 GT. It’s worlds ahead of the older cars. I also have the Recaros in mine and thought they would be stiff but. I like them. So far I’ve done a clutch, shifter, catback, jacking rails and catch can to mine and she drives like a dream.
