whats best for 409 stainless. i have a slp loudmouth II catback and instead of being 304 like they used to have they switched to 409. should i sand it all the way to 2000 and just not polish it? it will still look better i would think. you cant polish 409 stainless steel or it will turn color and start to rust i guess.

there really isnt much effort needed, it just takes some times. The supplied are cheap as well. The key is to do it right the FIRST time. Start low gritt and go in very small steps doing each very well up till you are done. Finally, the wet sanding is a mess so do it somewhere that you wont mess up the floor, tape up the tips VERY good to prevent scratches, and make sure each sanding pass is complete. Thats about it~

I'm going to have a local powder coater do my rear pipe's in a Chrome Finish.. I'll post up picture's. I did my borla cat-back 2 yrs ago, but I'm not going to spend that much time on my magnaflow set-up..Lol

Definitely interested in seeing this. Keep us posted or put in pic video thread.

I just used all the listed grits above and an electric hand sander. Just take your time and you will love it. My car is a garage queen so it doesn't need redone that often.

I just removed mine to clean it up (installed it about this time last year, sat in my barn all winter with 0 miles on it, and put about 2k miles on it this summer, all nice days, no weather or rain) and I am disgusted with how it looks. I will be re polishing it and selling it and putting a simple aluminized system on it. I cannot believe how a couple short drives a month took a toll on all of that hard work. Couldn't imagine it on a car that's driven a lot. For me, it's not worth the look!

Just finished mine today. I started with Extra Fine steel wool. then i did a wet sand with 600 grit, then 1000, 1500, and finally 2000 and polished with mothers billet aluminum polish.
