Poll: True Forged Wheels, Best Size for Rear: 18x10.5 or 18x11, opinions?

Looking to swap to a set of TF Victorys soon. I need to make the decision on the size of the rear wheel. I currently have Chrome OEM style 10.5s in rear with 3/8" spacers and I love the way it looks, I just decided I want to go with a TF wheel and now need to decide on 18x10.5 or 18x11. The car does have rolled rear fenders.

My understanding is with the "04Sleeper" offest the widest you can go is 10.5". If you want to go "flush mount" you can go up to 11".

Can someone help me out with why they went with 10.5" or 11". I definitely want to run a 315/30/18 tire and I don't have any plans to run a 345. So I guess I am really trying to understand the look difference between 04sleeper and flush mount? Thanks...

Thanks for that link Hurtnem. Some sick pics on there...

I should also mention the car is slightly lowered with the following package. That said, I want to buy a wheel set that will fit any 03/04 Cobra perfectly so other guys can run them in the event they come up for sale at some point down the road.

-Full Coil Over Conversion
-Revalved Maximum Motorsports Bilstein Struts
-Revalved Maximum Motorsports Bilstein Shocks
-Maximum Motorsports Front Coil Over Kit
-Maximum Motorsports Rear Coil Over Kit
-Hypercoil Front Coil Over Springs - 550 lb/in
-Hypercoil Rear Coil Over Springs - 375 lb/in
-Maximum Motorsports Upgraded Front Tie Rod Ends/Bumpsteer Kit
-Maximum Motorsports Low Profile IRS Subframe Bolts

DSG

here is my own 03 vert with 18x10.5 with 04sleeper offset with the very same tires
Torch Red

here is my own 03 vert with 18x10.5 and 04sleeper offset but i believe these tires were 295/35

and of course, 04sleeper's car itself with 04sleeper offset (go figure lol) on 18x10 with 295s

in my honest opinion, i love how fender flush looks with a 305 or 315 tire, regardless of width, since that does really change the look other than bulge characteristics lol. but for a powerful street car, more rubber on the ground is always good.

on an IRS car, you must go with fender flush if you go with 11" wheels (any diameter).
with 10.5s, you can go either fender flush or 04sleeper style.

the difference is just .25" (ff being outward more to the fender, ie flush)

some people have even gone out more, and vice versa. but the majority go with one of these two.

I'm running 18x11's out back and love them. They sit pretty flush. Car is lowered with KW Variant 3 coilovers.

I'm sure you know my answer.

Just because you "Can" put an 11" wheel, doesn't mean you should.

Agreed. I went 10.5 with something in between sleeper and fenderflush offset. Looking forward to gettin them here to get some pics to see. I'll be running 315's on them. Not a huge fan of the steamroller look. Doesn't look right to me when something is jammed into a spot that wasn't made to fit it. :burnout:

My car has TF 18x11" with 315/30/18 RT-615k and it fits perfect. The guy before me did it. It has extended lug bolts.

I don't care what way it takes to get an 18x11 to fit under my car... I just want that width to fit my 335 R888's without the bulge.. Right now to get the sleepers in the style i want.. matte black everything (including bolts) is a little steep in price. Once it falls under $3 grand i'll buy ;)

04sleeper why did you chose to run a 10.5 instead of 11?
Because a 10.5 fits properly. My offset puts the edge of the rim in 1/4" from the edge of the fender lip. This allows room for the tire to have a little room so it does not sick out past the fender. I personally can't stand the way a car looks with tires sticking out past the fender or with having a small tire stretch to fit a larger wheel. It makes the car look cheap and makes the wheels look like an afterthought rather than made to go on the car.

With an 11" wheel, the offset puts the wheel lip even or "Flush" with the fender lip. The other 1/4" gets put to the inside of the wheel well. Then you mount a tire and it sticks out past the fender if you try to go too big. A lot of people like to try to stuff 10 lbs of shit into a 5 lb sack. Like adding 335's and saying you don't have to roll the fenders or have any issues rubbing. :bs:

Put a tire and wheel that FIT properly onto the car and it looks better. Period!

Especially when you pay a good amount for custom wheels. There should be no reason to have the specs wrong.

That being said here is a 10.5" wheel with a 295-35-18 Goodyear Tire.

04Sleeper - Thanks for the pics. Great looking setup. Are those lips polished or chrome?
