Car dealerships from the past!
Wow! Great memories Bob. This is my hometown track:I'm paying homage to a long gone, much missed Connecticut Dragway, my home track. It was owned by Frank Maratta and operated from 1960-1979. It was then bought by a group of investors who kept it open until 1985, when it closed for good. I visited CT Dragway as much as I could back in the '70s. So many great memories. The track wasn't big, and that's why it was so great. I loved that for big events you could park up near the short fence that separated the spectators from the near lane. Nowadays a track would never let you park/watch that close to the cars for liability reasons. But back them, it was a low priority. I especially remember the funny car events. Imagine being maybe 20' from the near lane as they screamed down the track. With nothing but a regular wire link fence between you and those monster machines. I'd usually park about at the 1/3 mark. Fun. Fun. Fun.
