-dial up connection
-getting kicked offline when someone called your land line
-you paid for connections by the minute
-if you didnt have a local dial up number, you paid long distance fees while online
-geocites
-napster!!!!!!!
-taking 15 minutes to download a song
-waiting 15 minutes to download a song only to find out the file is crap :(

-never ever ever ever ever admitting you met your girlfriend online :)

altavista and webcrawler were the search engines I used. Ditched aol for netzero. My first modem was a 300 baud Hayes Smart modem (on a TI 99) way before internet (it was all local BBS) showing my age :)

I remember grabbing AOL demo discs whenever I saw them for the free minutes haha. Some friends and I would get on AOL chat rooms, look up random girl's profiles to find out their boyfriend's name, then pretend to be the boyfriend and break up with them. Maybe that was the start of cyber-bullying??
