I'm 36 and finally buying my first SVT. Shortly after I turned 24 I bought a house and had 4 kids and I've spent the past 12 years devoted to being a dad/husband. Got married and bought a house within the same month that was a fixer upper and 3 days before our 1st anniversary my daughter was born. Needless to say I've balanced home repairs, kids, vacationing etc up till now.

I've been seriously looking at either a fox coupe or a terminator for the past two years however the drawback is my garage was in despair. Falling apart siding and a bare stud interior. I could never justify moving in a nice mustang without correcting this. Last summer I resided the back and two sides with Hardie and painted. Work slammed me hard and I ended up working over 3,000 hours last year so I wasn't able to do much. Well In this time frame my uncle is an original owner of a 03 Redfire w/ 11k miles. The car has barely seen the street and almost all the miles have been on a road course where it was trailed to/from for weekend racing.

Late last year he told me that he had zero interest in selling but if I was interested he would sell the car to me. Without discussing pricing I told him I would. Flash forward to a few weeks ago we finally hashed out the pricing and I've finally agreed to buy. The car is in Indiana and I am in Texas so I won't actually have the car until I schedule an enclosed transport. I will be scheduling this at a time when I can complete the inside of my garage. I travel there every year to visit in June so sometime between May/June I'll have the car in my possession.

Until then I'll be happily completing the garage :)

Here is the car and I typed out the mods the car has as he could remember over the phone. Unfortunately the car needs a paint job due to the track sessions but outside of that it was built to handle any kind of road racing it could be thrown at it. He's replaced all the bushings, uv joints, ball joints, wheel hubs 3 times in 11k miles and every weekend of racing would get fresh amsoil in the engine, trans and IRS with replacement after the event.

I'll be reworking the suspension to bring it to a more of a street capable car with occasional turns and strip use. I want an overall great performing car for anything that gets thrown at it.

Here is the garage the car will be going in. I bought a Bendpak HD-9WX which is being delivered this week which is the reason I replaced the door with a roll up style. I will install the lift first and then work on bubbling out the ceiling to 12' in height. I've installed an AC window unit type through the wall and the garage door is double walled and insulated. Next is insulation on all the walls/ceiling, OSB sheathing and paint.

I'm super stoked probably more so for the garage then the car but I'm on a time crunch and only have about two months to complete the garage. I refuse to bring the car down without the garage being ready.

When I'm done I should be able to keep the garage around 78 degrees so I can work on the car comfortably instead of being 100+ in this Texas heat.

Very cool that it is staying in the family. A good detailer can work wonders with the factory paint.

Unfortunately the car needs new paint. He had his garage door come down and smack the spoiler causing a big section of paint chip off. The front bumper is cracked in one spot by 3" from where he spun out once due to a broke spindle. The driver side spindle snapped in half at watkins glen causing him to spin out and he grazed a wall bending his exhaust tip into the bumper and caused the bumper to melt. The front and rear bumper needs to be replaced and the whole car new paint.

I'll get that fixed but for now I need to get the car to texas and of course finish the garage.

Nice garage @Talleywacker. That great that you can control the temperature, 78 degrees is ideal. Especially if you spend considerable time in there working on your Cobra.

Congrats, Nice work and GL with the car. I'm sure it's going to look sharp when you get it all straightened out.

I don't see where to PM you on the site, is that a premium only member option?
Click on his screenname, then a new window shows up.
Select 'start a conversation', which will be a direct PM to him.

I use to run a couple Vbulletin websites but I do believe your statement is false in my case. Perhaps they have it on a new user probation or something or paid membership.
