I'm not the one who is a tool. Hey, give me some facts to work with. I am even going straight to the horses mouth to try and get facts on the matter. And if I am wrong then sorry, but I need facts. What mods had you done to get the car to get it to 384/379. little help. Hey if you can defenatively prove me wrong then great, but there is no need for namecalling.

Ok, just to be clear. I never said that OHV motors are crap. I said that everyone keeps comparing 4.6L engines to LS1's, why not compare the 5.4 DOHC to the LS1 (not LS6s)? I thought that was a better comparrson.
What I was pointing out is that the 5.4L DOHC's make more power than LS1's (stock for stock) and that even the h/c LS1's (aka LS6's) make barely more HP than the 5.4. (IMO, 405 is barely more than 385).
My point is this...Ultimately, enough experiance will be had with the DOHC's to figure out better cams and heads...and then the 5.4 should be even stronger, considering how close it is now to the H/C LS1 (aka LS6) with so little research having been done.
It is elementary...DOHC is theoretically more efficient than Pushrod motors because there is less parasitic loss due to less mass (no pushrods). It also allows for more variables to be applied to the cams. Now, in practice, right now, it may not be more efficient because we (and I mean the "Royal" we) haven't got all the damn bugs worked out yet.
That doesn't mean Chevys are crap (they are...but not because of the motors, just the headliners, hump, ergonomics, etc.)
It does mean that GM needs to start developing DOHCs, Hydroelectrics, widgets, planknars, or something else entirely...because they are reaching the limit of the OHV design...unless they want to start dropping 454's in everything, or warrantying Nitrous from the factory.
If pushrods were the way to go, they would be in Formula 1s and IRL. I know they are still the choice of Top Fuel, but does anyone want to bet that will never change?
