That sounds like it adds up. The exhaust note you year is the bi mode opening up on the Z06. Gives a great exhaust note.
Probably stock. Z comes with the mild to wild exhaust standard so above 3K they sound off. Since you were even the cutouts were right next to you.
Has for blowing at the 700 rwhp remark, 600 rwhp Z is a very hard car to beat. Higher the speed the worst it becomes for the stang. Good runs but a H/C/I Z will hurt a TVS stang
Idk about that dirty, guess it depends on how aggressive the setup z is. The one's I've ran still see tail lights but were in the 560-570 range.
Interesting. Have you run your car at the 1/4 track at all, or done any 60-150+ timed pulls ?
I'm in that power range that you mention...just interested in how your car's numbers compares to mine.
The test n tunes I've been to were just car against car so no slips, not the best track anyways. I haven't timed them but the runs we do start from either a dig or 20, 40, 65 up to 140 depending on how they want to run. Even on my old ported pullied eaton I could run door to door with a heads intake Z in a drivers race. Haven't had the chance to put my new setup on the dyno but my guess would be ~700 whp. The hci cars I've ran with I'm able to snatch by 1-1.5 cars depending on the start point.
Do you have any vids by chance?
To answer a few questions that have arose. I have taken my car to the track before. Best time is 11.81 @125mph with a 2.0 60 ft with 3.31 gears. I went friday with my 3.73s. The best time i could muster was a 12.5 at a 122mph with a 2.3 60ft. Weather was bad prep was bad and i had crappy 555r drag radials like before but they are getting old. The C6Z06 best time of the night was a 12.4 @ 121mph. This was all in phoenix az drag strip. On the roll race i had AC blasting with a passenger with a full tank of gas. He also had a passenger. In case people wanted more details. When i dynoed my car it was in florida it made 636rwhp and 620rwhp on a dynojet. I tell people 620 because the 636 had a weird graph with a spike at the end and thats where peak hp was measured from which did not look right. I was also neck and neck with a stock 13 gt500 in florida before my 3.73 gear swap and i had a passenger at the time. So im starting to conclude it was probably a stock Z06. Thanks for all the inputs i appreciate it.
To me, yes it sounds like his Z was stock. I have several friends with the C6 Z06 and they are very fast stock for the horsepower given their gearing and weight. My friends '12 z bone stock would run right with my stock '14 GT500.
I can agree with what you're saying. But you're not running neck and neck with the OP's car. He has 40+ RHWP over a stock 13/14, similar weight. My swapped 09 made 630ish and trapped 131. I'd put 5-6 lengths easy on a STOCK 13/14.
The easy explanation for me regarding the OP's car performance is that he lives in the Phoenix metro area, and his CORRECTED RWHP was 630 (done in Florida, and probably on better octane fuel). That CORRECTED power rating don't mean squat when you're running in Phoenix in the heat of summer on 91 pump gas.....especially if you're FI. In 105+ degree weather, FI cars without some serious IAT management is going to suffer more RWHP loss than a NA car when using the same 91 pump gas, IMHO. As I had noted earlier, I have a few friends that owned 13/14 GT500's and ran several of these on the highway. In the winter time, traction and driver being equal, it's pretty much a dead heat. I give a slight edge to the GT500, especially when the Z goes into 4th gear at 124+ MPH as the RPM drop is pretty big given the big transmission gear drop. I run that same car in the dead of summer, it's a completely different race.....I'll have pulled several cars lengths. Heat soak and high IAT can be a bitch.
Just my opinion.
One other thing, and I know this starts arguments ALL the time here......
If you take the average corrected chassis dyno number for a bone stock C6 Z06 at 445 RWHP....
If you take the average, posted, corrected chassis dyno number for a bone stock 13/14 GT500 at 585 RWHP....
Factory rated power of SAE 505 HP versus SAE 665 gives you 160 HP difference.
Chassis dyno are pretty close....you're looking at roughly 150 RWHP difference.
Take your 13/14 GT500 "Fast List" of the 15 posted fastest trap speeds of the bone stock GT500, they average at 123.8 MPH.
Take the same 15 best posted trap speeds of bone stock C6 Z06's from the Fast List on that board, they average at 124.26 MPH.......within .5 MPH of one another.
We know ET's are going to be based on traction, 60' and 330' times, driver skills shifting a manual transmission, et al. , so the ET's are not of much value here....but the trap speeds will be a valid comparison.
You need roughly a 150 RWHP advantage on average to match a C6 Z06.
Nice work putting that together!
My Z is slow as ballz. I only trapped 116 bone stock.
Clarification on fuel. I have a 93 tune. I run 91 with 32oz of torco. Did not want to get retuned till i get a lower pulley and full exhaust and fuel mods. I was happy with the outcome because my car surely had to be heatsoaked. I want to see the difference between a winter and summer run to see if it makes a big difference.
Where do you live, and what did your slip look like ?
Way back when, I did several passes using only 3rd gear, 4th gear, and 5th gear only. I trapped 117 MPH using only 3rd gear
