I was already shaky due to the iron and wedge changes and I know I struggle with uneven lies.

I need to start trusting my driver. All three OB left were on target with the second shot.

The course was really nice. Not uptight like you’d imagine due to cost and such. The couple I played with were very laidback.

The food and drinks at the comfort stations were really good.

Three and a half weeks until I play Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Course.

I'm not a long hitter, but had my best recorded drive on hole 18. I usually hit 220-250ish.

Ball flight was a nice draw, calm wind.

Still kept it under a 100. Played like crap on the front.

54/45=99.

Also chipped one in on a par 3 out of the sand for a birdie.

Early in the round I was also struggling with putting as the pro said the greens were fast and not to go off the practice greens as they had just been worked on. The morning the greens were some of the slowest I had played. After 6-7 holes they sped up.
If you know any of this I apologize but maybe someone else will get something out of it.

Here are some things I've learned over the years about putting and greens. I don't care who says they are fast or slow, I figure it out for myself.

Why? Well the biggest reason is greens not only change speed day to day but also from morning to evening and even mid day.

How? Water! How damp the grass is plays a massive roll in their speed and how they break or do not break. It's more important than the grain or the type of grass IMOP.

This also changes based on whether or not the course waters mid day in the summer. Most do in hot climates.

Once you get to know a course you also know which greens get more sun and which don't.

This is why they speed up as you play, they are drying out.

The best thing I've found you can do is bend down and rub them with your hand a little. Damp = less speed and break, dry = more speed and break.

If the greens have dew on them you can expect the ball may not break much if at all.

Where this really comes into play is long putts which is where most of us amateurs are hitting our first putt on just about any green.

Lastly if you really want to improve your putting and I mean REALLY improve, go to wherever you practice with just your putter and 3 balls and do nothing else.

Start off with 1 footers and work back. When you start putting beyond 3 feet putt from the same spot and try to sink 2.

After several sessions of this you can start to place the 3 balls in different spots and challenge yourself to sink 2.

Treat each one like a par putt and read each putt. Visualize how the ball will roll based on what you see.

So many people fail to do any of this. They don't bother read anything and just tap the ball around.

My tee shots have really been hurting my game. It's always been my problem. The other day I was getting a lot of duffs off the tee box, even on par 3's so it's not just the driver.

Although it's been a lot lately with the driver as well. May it's because I want to hit it longer. But it's not helping when I duff and only hit it 50-80 yards....

My short game saved me once again...

Hit the range today and the strike is becoming more consistent with the driver. This is without an alignment aide as the TDs do not have them.

I did a lot of work with the irons, hybrids, and wood. Hit about 15 shots with the driver and I need to start trusting my new driver shot shape.I am hoping to play Friday and have a lesson on Saturday. Then I play LBV at Disney on the 11th.

I know they are probably Callaways, but can anyone send me a link to buy a set of clubs from Top Golf? I hit better with those things than anything I own.

Most likely Callaway Strata.

Probably hit up the range Thursday morning before my tee time in the afternoon.

I need to get back to having confidence in hitting my driver. I bought a stiff shaft a couple months ago and only really tried it on a few holes. I may try it at the range. But I like the whip/flex feeling that I get from the regular shaft.

Last winter on a golf simulator my swing speed with the driver was mid to upper 90's. I think I was at 100 mph a couple times.

Shot a 94 the other day! 50/44. Had 6 pars. Two 8's on the front, could have scored much lower.

I'm liking the stiff shaft on the driver so far. I feel like I don't hit it as long, but much more consistent.

Played 9 last Friday as I didn't have time for 18.

Played well enough to not piss myself off. The first 5 holes were bogey golf but I made par on remaining 4 with good birdie opportunities.

I no BS hit one of the best 5 irons of my life on a long par 3. Landed 5 feet past the cup and rolled out giving me a 15 foot birdie put. Missed it by 6 inches!

I also hit a 56 onto the green leaving a 6 footer that I also missed for birdie.

Overall not bad.

Just received my Scotty Cameron putter today. I already putt well with my current TaylorMade TP Berwick putter, but thought I'd give this a go.

Played Disney’s Lake Buena Vista with my father-in-law, coworker, and manager. I shot a 46 on the front. I was only two over through 5 holes. I started having issues as my back started tightening back up; I have been having a bunch of back and neck issues the past two weeks. I probably won’t play for two-three weeks to let it heal or run it’s course. I shot a 52 on the back nine. Penalties killed me, I just couldn’t get rotated properly to do good off the tee. The guy on the far left in the picture qualified years ago for the PGA. He was impressed with the progress I have made with my irons, wedges, and putting.

I picked up a new hybrid cover.

My daughter got her own ball marker and ball. She seemed to get really excited about golf when we were at the pro shop and driving near the course.

This is the system I previously mentioned purchasing. Home

I wanted to give it a good try before posting about it. Maybe it will help someone else as much as it has me.

I'll admit it hasn't been easy because I am fighting YEARS of bad habits but 2 of the big ones have been cured.

I am hitting the ball better and swinging easier.

Buying a mat and hitting birdie balls at home has also helped a ton. In the time it would take me to drive back and forth to the range I can get in a good practice session.

Hopefully I can meet my goal of breaking 80 soon.

Glad it is working well for you.

I was talking to my father-in-law last night and told him that while I won’t be playing or hitting for at least two weeks to let my back and knee feel better, I will be doing slow motion drills to work on my form.

I was skeptical about it but after watching a lot of his YouTube videos what he was saying made sense to me. I am genuinely surprised at what the single plane swing has done for me.

Sorry to hear about your back. Hopefully it heals sooner than later.

Setup For Impact has several slow motion one handed drills that have helped me a ton with proper impact position.

It might help you to look some of them up on YouTube. The drills aren't specific to the single plane swing and should help anyone.

I tried my new SC putter yesterday during a green keepers revenge tournament. Probably not the best idea for me psychologically because they make the greens super fast and put them in the hardest locations.

But I'll be golfing tomorrow and Tuesday. I plan on practicing an hour or so on the putting green before playing tomorrow.

Well!

Some courses reopened here in Minnesota because of the mild temps. Today was sunny, 52 and calm winds.

I shot my best round ever! I've never been in the 80's until today! A 85 with 2 birdies and 8 pars! And 7 pars in a row!

Hole 16 is a par 3 about 140 yards and hit the flag stick!

We'll see what happens tomorrow, suppose to be windy!

Solid round at our course. Winds 20-30 and prior best round here was a 93. And I actually beat the wife .

That birdie was about 68 yards out!
