could you post an exhaust vid sometime? i'm wanting to switch to a dr gas x-pipe for my mac L/Ts and maybe switch mufflers too. thanks
Thanks sir. Like I said before, I'm fglad I got the car and not someone else who has little to no knowledge about cars. If you had taken this car to my shop and had me fix it correctly it would have gotten very expensive very fast trying to track down all the issues.i feel bad for you with this situation... yet you've handled it really well.
i think you were meant to own this car, you can fulfill it's potential...
the car looks great by the way! good luck, and keep giving us updates...
As I said before, this is what happens to a car that goes to a dishonest shop or a shop that doesn't specialize in performance cars.:whine: wow that cobra had a terrible past.
Good thing its in a good owners hands now. Who the heck would f up a cobra like that?
Good luck with the fix
Well you have to look at the car for what it can be and not for what it is currently. Currently it still needs a LOT of work but 1-2 years down the line the car will be brand new in every way possible.Sweetest color ever, and you seem to have a good attitude about it!
No it didn't look that bad till we washed it a few times and really removed the top layer of grime. This weekend I'll be attempting to give the exterior and the enginebay a through detail so we'll see what else we find.i'd have been more upset about the bad paint job than anything. in the pictures it doesn't look bad though.
I believe there is a clip on youtube of this exhaust, that's where I heard it first.could you post an exhaust vid sometime? i'm wanting to switch to a dr gas x-pipe for my mac L/Ts and maybe switch mufflers too. thanks
Yeah, you more than the average Joe sees how bad that paint is. The thing is this "project car" is going to be the DD while I work on the 6ers and a few other projects.Thats some awesome luck Nathan. Wish I was in GA, would love to help with the exterior. Appart from spending all the money fixing it though, having a project car you can work on like that is pretty great IMO. Nothing like getting compliments and being able to show people what it used to look like before YOU got to it. And what better car to do it with than an uber awesome BAB cobra...
It's slow progress to me but it's progress nonetheless. I work in Woodstock at Christian Brothers Automotive. I used to work up by you at Modular Powerhouse until they move to the Mr. Norm's facility up north.Looks like you are making good progress. Where do you work? You are right up the road from me.
Core support is first on the list after I get the car on the road and emissions tested.I looked at that car over and over and after the amount of work I just put in my 97 (engine swap and paint), I'm glad I didn't jump on it. But I'm glad someone who is going to make it right got it, great work so far. Are you going to replace the core support?
Yup, Jose and I have been in contact since the day I got the car and started to tear into it. He is more pissed about all of this because a lot of the work that was "performed" on this car was completely unnecessary.holy cow i would have flipped shit finding all that wrong with one car. have you tried to contact the previous owner of the car about all that 'was' wrong with it.
Jose has been really understanding with me through all of this. He trusted a shop to do the right work and they screwed him over on more than one occasion. As I have said multiple times before, none of this work is directly the result of Jose, it's the shops that were working on it that are at fault.Thats my old car and trust me i have been like wtf with all the issues its had so far. My old mechanic ****ed that car up so bad and i found out about most lies until mysteed told me...
Its like i told nathan if i was more mechanically inclined no way would i have traded it for his car, but i recently purchased a black 2011 and i didnt want to use it for work anymore because were i work it gets pretty dirty.
I did only hit a guardrail, thats to my knowledge of accidents i even posted on here when it happened and the folding down the middle i explained to you as being done probably when i had to pull the car from one place to another every single time i had to move the car or take it back because the mechaninc couldnt do his job worth a shit. I spent roughly 5k in this car last and this year and trust me i didnt want to trade it. No i wasnt shady about what was done to it, like i said i paid to get most of the stuff done and in the end i lost, if i knew i was going to loose this much money on this car i would of parted it out from the get go. But because it was my first car and it had sentimental value to me i didnt want to but in the end i had to let it go.
Major update:
Nice rescue! A 98 BAB Cobra doesn't come along every day and from the looks of it you are turning around one that was heading down a bad path. Just got a quote for some BAB paint last week, after finding out that the Mystichrome paint would be $2300 a gallon!
Thanks though I will admit that having extremely smart techs is a big part of finding these odd issues.Damn, dude, it would taken most shops a really long time to figure that one out. You should advertise for diagnostics if you aren't already.
Wish you were closer, coulda used your help 6 months ago!
Thanks and yes that is a bit high for MC. You can get Mystic for about $300-350 from BASF now too.Nice work OP!
$2,300 is pretty high for MC.
Thanks sir. We have a long way to go but we've already accomplished a lot with this car so hopefully this weekend the trend will continue.I know it's been a ton of work, but I'm glad to see a car like this go to an owner who can bring out the best in it.
Thanks. Your 94 GT was actually Bright Blue which is color code KF as Bright Atlantic Blue's color code is K7. Still a beautiful color nonetheless.great work..thanks for updating..glad this car is now in the right hands...i did a similar trade like this years back when i went from my 85 t-top gt, to a 94 BAB 5.0 gt that well..needed a ton of hidden work...fav color!
