Shhh... Brevard is not to be mentioned! Send everyone to Asheville.:D
Seriously though, Brevard is near the top of my list. Mountain biking is a huge part of Brevard--it's awesome.

My wife and I used to travel up there and go to the Hobnob restaurant until it suddenly closed. Now we go over to Marco Trattoria. Kinda funny there's a Mayberry's and OP Taylor's on opposite sides of the street.

I'm not a big fan of Asheville. Biltmore is pretty, and the little Bavarian-looking village outside of it, but otherwise I just drive through and avoid stopping. Nothing bad or anything- just... busy. I'm not a fan of busy.

Bryson City, Maggie Valley, Cherokee. Anywhere in that area.

My wife and I have stayed around Bryson City several times in some of the nice cabins. Lots to do in the area and not far from the Tail of the Dragon as well.

I do enjoy the area I'm in near Charlotte,NC though. Traffic can be rough but like said in the thread theres so much to do around here. If you're a gearhead its especially awesome. Where I am in Monroe I'm roughly 1 hour from 3 1/4 mile dragstrips...several 1/8 mile tracks...45 minutes from Charlotte Motor Speedway...45 min from Carolina Motorsports park road course,etc,etc...

Lots of cities I like. The more I'm gone, the more I like my home town, Champaign, IL. I also love Vegas, and I'm seriously considering retiring in that area.

Chicago is actually a great city. I just hate the liberals that infest it.
Indianapolis is a great city; low cost of living, very close to IRP, and IMS.
Tons of places in the Southeast I like....too many to list.

I like Chicago, its just the liberals that infest it? That's like saying, god she's hot, but the herpes are a bummer. Cant get one without the other, so I cant wait to get out of here, and I'm just stuck in the burbs. Fun place to visit, but no way to live, especially retirement fixed income, unless you got a ton of cash.
Champaign seems like a nice town.

I've been to so many places (21 years military).
I do not like cold, grew up in Green Bay, Wi.

My knee jerk reaction would be any town/city on the Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California.

Most people and laws in California are stupid. But the fresh air off the water and the scenery, vibe is truly amazing!

You mean you don't wanna live in crime free Savannah???? Brother lives in Petaluma...and loves it...

Blairsville, Ga- or NC mountains... but at my age location to medical is very important and state taxes....

I don't live in Savannah
My $dollar$ goes a lot further here in Georgia.
Matter of fact, a dollar will go further anywhere other than California

I wanted to relocate to Savannah for a long time. I have lost the desire. The city is beautiful downtown, but other than the historic district, it has nothing to offer me.

Not Boise, ID. Too many people. Traffic sucks. Weather sucks. Nothing to do.

Hands down, Lake Tahoe. South Shore is a bit more fun, while North is more family oriented.

Summer time - hiking, boating, camping, fishing, casino's, Hot August Nights car show
Winter time - skiing / snowboarding, casinos

I went to A school in Charleston, SC as well as got stationed here three other times. My wife and I both love this place so I retired here. :)

Winter blows and the liberalism is out of control but Madison is otherwise pretty awesome - decent car scene, lakes, outdoors, live music somewhere almost every night from May-September, great food spots, Badger basketball and football, capitol square, etc. Really took it to a new level when we bought a boat a couple years ago.
