Man, thats weird because I know Big Daddy Dwayne Gutridge personally and he never had a Super Snake, only 2 07 GT500's a grey one and an orange convertible. Also I know for a fact that he builds his own engines so, maybe we are talking about a different guy. I know a few shops that use him for tuning and engines as well. All seem to have nothing negative to say other than maybe he's a little expensive but the work was great.

I know the guys over at Downs Ford have nothing but positive things to say about Big Daddy. To the OP have you called anyone yet?

Years ago, my best friend took his STi to them to be tuned. 30R, bolt ons. Not only did that tune later cost him a motor but the tuner broke his seat on the test drive and denied it. Granted, they were Bride replicas, but still, to not even nut up to it. Huge dude, long island accent, asked you to pay with a credit card via Paypal. Dyno was all the way on the left of the shop and he had a yellow EVO on the dyno when we showed up for an appointment on time. Waited 3 hours to get on the dyno, were there late into the night. It poured all day, can't forget that day. There was an issue with the boost controller, so he sent it over to the main shop to get fixed. They did great work and I think my friend Rich still has it set up to this day how they did it. Fast, reasonably priced per hour. If I remember right the guy was renting the dyno he didn't actually work for EFI. Owner of the main shop was cool as shit, we BS'd for hours waiting on the EVO then the tune he kept us out of the rain and gave us a discount because while I was there I threw a hand in on a few cars. He raced me with his turbocharged M coupe when the night was over (he ****ing wrecked my bolt-on, 100-shot stock longblock cobra).

So I don't know what they have going on as far as Cobra tuning, but if that same guy is still Subaru tuning, I'd stay clear. Shop was nuts, awesome, tuner sucked. Rich now uses Precision Motorsports in Brick, NJ and has had much better experiences. If it's the same guy, you cannot miss him. 6 foot 6 plus, 300 pounds plus, absolute mammoth of a man. Thick NY accent. Mustache and goatee, black short hair.

I'm sort of confused, so do you recommend them or no? So your saying the EFI tune made your buddies motor pop, and the guy broke his seat? I'm just confused. I know the guy who tunes cobra's name is Chris, and doesn't meet the description of what you said for looks.

Chris tuned my car and my buddies last year. I paid 500 cash. His dyno spits out low numbers. It's an awd mustang dyno so don't go in and get disappointed when u get a low number. At 21lbs of boost I hit 590 on his dyno. Dynojet hit 638. See what they will do for you cash.

I emailed Pete and he said $650 + tax as it says on their website. He told me to email Chris with my mod list and it's been three weeks and no response. Thanks for the info about cash. The funny thing is my cousin has his 02 GT with a saleen blower tuned there and when he offered to pay cash for a little less they looked at his like he was a crook. I'll try giving them a call though and seeing what's up. It's betweem EFI Logics and mustang magic. EFI is a half hour away and Mustang Magic is 2 hours away. But I don't plan on getting her tuned until April anyways so I have plenty of time to research.

^^^If both shops are equal as far as quality of work and tune I would narrow it down to price and distance. If Mustang Magic is two hours away and the tune is $500, but you spend $150 in gas and time getting there it might make more since to go to EFI, cause you'll spend the same money, plus if you have any follow ups needed it's only 30mins drive to get things taken care of.

However, if Mustang Magic is better overall to you I think the 2hr trip is worth it to get the work and tune you feel is best for your car. Just my thoughts!

^ Exactly what I was thinking. I'm going to call MM tomorrow, they are closed today, and see how much they are. So far I have heard nothing but good things from both so like you said it will be between the price. Thanks for the input

I'm sorry but $650 for a dyno tune is definitely a Beverly Hills asking rate! For that price a brand new Xcal3 should be thrown in..

Another vote for Kurgan here. He did some work and a basic tune on my mostly stock Cobra last week and insisted I take a test drive with him, and this was an hour and a half AFTER the shop had closed. Great service.

I asked my friend yesterday as it was really bothering me. The guy's name was "Big Al" and was renting the dyno for tuning. I would recommend every aspect of that shop other than him. All we saw him tune was an EVO and the STi, but this was 3-4 years ago now too so he may not even be affiliated with them anymore.

Not in the Chicagoland area at least. Most place are all around with the same price, within $25-50 of each other. $450-500 for the tune, not including the chip they put in if you dont already have one.

I just called Mustang Magic and they said $500 for a tune, and you need a handheld and they sell them for $250. So $750 for a tune, sadly I don't have a handheld. EFI is $650 and you don't need a handheld. EFI is 30 min away and Mustang Magic is 2hours. Tough decision...

The draw back to not having a handheld is you can make adjustments.

My suggestion - look for an unlocked x2 for like 100-150 and go to Realspeed, $400 for a dyno tune as long as u have the stock blower, heads and cams. Dan is a good tuner and straight guy.

Efi logic doesn't tune cobras much anymore, I heard one other local tuner has been fixing efis problems with past customers...not naming names, I'm in ct and I drive 2 hrs to Joe and the boys at mustang magic anytime I need a tune, a hand held is a great investment, u can datalog and adjust your tune if u can convince Jose the tuner to unlock the parameters if he feels your competent and not going to blow ur own shit up and blame his tune, and their dyno is as legit ad it gets, car will run the mph the dyno hp reads.

55k miles on the stock shortblock and going for 800+ hp with the crusher upgrade...if that doesn't speak volumes about their tunes I don't know what will.

I bought my car from a guy and it was tuned at efi logics. I liked the online data base and could see the numbers the car i bought made. after looking at his actual graphs on paper i was not happy with the tune. I tune for a shop and had my own shop for a while so i wanted to make it my own tune. After seeing the a/f graph on my shops dyno I knew it had to be fixed it was all over from 12.0 to 10.0. I would not bring anyting to them after seeing this, they tuned it in april off 2011 i believe.

You made the right decision in purchasing the handheld. It's a must have with these cars when you start the mod process.

BTW the infamous "snakebite" video was the owner Joe's car...now the tuner Jose has it and is making it into a twin turbo monster.

You made a good decision.
