the 11.77 has been the best run so far but there has been several run 11.9x's and even one trapping in the 120's bone stock. that is what the car should run in good conditions with a good driver.

I'd love to see someone pull a 1.7x on stock rubber.
The ZL1 is a huge turd. It gets killed by a 2013, it loses to a 2011-2012, possibly the equal of a 2010 and only slightly faster than a 2007-2009 GT500. A 2003 Cobra with $1200 in mods will walk all over it. Mod for mod a 2003 Cobra is a full half second quicker on a 1/4.
And the 2013 GT500 is the ZL1's equal on a road course. And consider the ZL1 comes with with wider tires with the rears on the 2013 GT500 the same as the fronts on the ZL1, an IRS and soft brake pads while the 2013 has a solid rear, hard pads and a 3.31 rear gear. It is reported that the pads and tires are wearing out on thre ZL1 with a few thousand miles on it.
Oppenhiemer boasts that the 2013 GT500 need race car parts to keep up with the ZL1.
I want a street car with parts that last a few miles instead of race car parts to impress some limey magazine writer.

Yes, it does make them a lot less impressive. Which I bet is a large part of why Ford made the new gt500 so powerful. To increase the gap between the GT and the GT500. Modding an older GT500 is another story.
I see a lot of the older GT500s in the 12s club list (even a few in the 13s). I thinks its awesome that a lightly modded 5.0 GT could possibly beat a stock 12 and under GT500 and the new ZL1.

well it looks like and zl1 is outperforming the '12 gt500. which is what gm marketing set out to do. then ford took a big nasty dump on gm in the form of the 13 gt500, which in all honesty is a pretty sweet car.
neither cars are inpressive compared to the 505 hp zo6 though. this extra weight is a bitch.
I would probably buy a 13 gt500 over a zl1 though.
IMO both the stock 11:20s for the 500, and the 11:70s ZL1 are impressive times, much better than anyone predicted they would go.:-D The talk about modded GTs vs these stock vehicles is funny though, what does a stock GT run 12:80s -13:00s a full second to a second and a 1/2 slower?

agreed. I thought the gt500 would be stuck at 11.5's and the zl1 at 11.8's. someone will bust an 11.6 with a zl1 yet, which I think is really good for the car. they would run even better if the mph wasn't lower than it should be. the guys busting 11's are running a tick under 118 mph which i think is a little slow.
Different classes so I don't compare those.
