Shop Tour | We Visit VMP Performance

A trip to FL wouldn't be complete without dropping in to visit the crew over at VMP Performance. Justin and the team are always working on new parts (in various stages of development) to help members of the Ford Powered Community get the performance advantage they are looking for. This time we thought it would be fun to give you guys a full facility tour.

I know not everyone can easily make the trip to check out their favorite shops/manufacturers in person, so we here at SVTP are going to try to do that for you. Over the next few months we will be releasing a several new Shop Tour videos. Please subscribe to our SVTPerformance YouTube Channel so you don't miss out on any of the content. Unearthed | Ultra Rare Prototype 2000 Cobra R Intake Manifolds Discovered

Ever run across a unique piece of history and just have to hold it in your hands? That’s the situation I just found myself in. Recently, a good friend with a long history with SVT and Ford Performance stumbled upon something truly special. This man had two prototype 2000 SVT Cobra R Intake manifolds collecting dust in some forgotten boxes in his basement. Talk about finding forgotten treasure.

You see, back in the late 90’s computational fluid dynamics based design programs were just becoming common place, and 3D rapid prototyping was still a decade or so away. So if you wanted to test an intake design, you had to produce an actual physical prototype. That means you had to call up the foundry and have them cast some molten aluminum. That’s exactly why these beauties exist. Click Here to Continue Reading...

Mishimoto Intercooler, MBRP Exhaust, and 5 Star Tuning | Boosting a 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel

“Too much power is almost enough.” Those words ring particularly true in the world of diesel trucks. While GM seems to have fallen by the wayside in the HP one-upmanship among the Big 3, Ford and Ram are steadily cranking up the performance dial on their respective diesels. And there no shortage of aftermarket companies out there to help the diesel enthusiast get their torque fix. Recently, we caught up with the guys over at 5 Star Tuning while they had a 2017 Powerstroke F-250 on the dyno. That truck was in for some custom tuning to go along with some newly installed upgrades.

Chief among the new mods was Mishimoto’s newly released 6.7L Powerstroke Intercooler. The 6.7 PSD, unlike previous model Powerstrokes, utilizes an air-to-water intercooler design. Though the factory supplied unit is a good performing high quality piece, the crew over at Mishimoto felt there was room for improvement. Their custom core increase both air and coolant flow, which results in lower intake air temperatures and a denser air-charge. That should all add up to a few more horsepower making it to the pavement and less performance drop when pulling a long highway grade in the summer heat. It’s a win-win all around. Stock Bronco Four-Door SUV Lands a Podium Finish at Norra Mexican 1000 Rally in Baja

Adding to Bronco® brand’s off-road competition credentials, two lead Ford Bronco engineers piloting an all-new, fully stock 2021 Bronco Badlands four-door SUV across the harsh terrain of Mexico’s Baja peninsula landed a podium finish in the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally. The five-day rally began Sunday near the port city of Ensenada.

The team posted a third-place finish in the Pre-Runner Truck class. “Bronco has a long, successful history racing down here so we wanted to put the new one to the test as our final Built Wild Extreme Testing validation – and it exceeded our every expectation for performance across this treacherous environment,” said Bronco engineering manager Jamie Groves. “This race is a key final pre-launch check box for what the Bronco can do.” Click Here to Continue Reading...
