So you're calling me out and than setting the rules? I don't think that is how it works. Now if you want a dig race against the Z than you have to play in the real world. I don't like playing in Fantasy Land at the track. I like real conditions with real tires. It seperates the boys from the men. Rules are simple if you want a race, both cars on street tires, not silly DR's those are for girls. The road will be unprepped. We will slap vboxs in both cars to mark off the 1/4. That is a 100% fair race for both cars in real conditions.

Factory tires the Z all day. In the street both on factory tires Z all day. I only used my factory wheels for alignment. Its an all day job driving a stock Shelby on the street with TC off. Making that kind of HP/TQ someone will end up playing guardrail pinball.

C6Z vs. 2013 Shelby

Had a chance to run a new Shelby last night. Here is the run down on the cars. We only were able to get one run, from the man on the side of the road with a lazer gun.

Race 55mph-155mph

C6Z06 (568whp) - Heads/Cam/Headers/X-pipe/Ported intake and throttle body/Tune
Shelby (730whp) - Pulley/Headers/X-pipe/Throttle Body/3.73 gears/DR's/Tune

Shelby got on the gas a little sooner, better reaction than me :rockon:. He was able to hold me off until about 130mph, than the vette just jogged by him up to 155mph or so. We will try a lower roll in the future when I have the DR's slapped on the car. Once he put the car into fifth is was lights out for him. We vboxed both cars and they were within inches of each other from 60-130mph. From 130-155mph the vette pulled out 24 feet on the Shelby. Fun race for sure and the Shelby is fast, but the gearing he has hurt him up top.

My first post and my first Shelby. I have a 2013 bone stock Shelby. I have had Z06 vette since they came out in 2002. My last one was an 06 C6Z that made 571/530 rw and I am sure it was faster than my Shelby. Having said that, I am thinking that I will be able to make much more power for a lot less money with the Shelby and I am looking forward to doing so. Any suggestions on initial mods?

^ Pulley/Intake/Exhaust/Tune/Tires are always going to be the best bang for buck mods and best things to do on a blower car.

Unless you have tons of money right of the bat you could always save money in the long run and just skip to bigger blower or turbo

Just want to make sure everyone knows the shelby could have rung out 4th a little more to prove its point. Despite the 3.73s that tr6060 is not a close ratio trans by any means.

With the 2.66 magnum, shelbys stock tire height of 27.85 inches (285/35/20) and 7000rpm rev limit you are at 155mph in 4th. Even if you dont want to go all the way to redline you still get 144 at 6500. So maybe the GT 500 driver has some smaller tires or is playing it safe with rpms?

Shelby short shifted to 5th and stayed on the gas momentarily as the vette was screaming to the top of 4th. Lets not make it out like the Zo6 is that much faster in the top end.

^Nailed it, as I was in a similar situation racing the Z06 with my 2009 GT500 @ 700 rwhp.

You need a 28" tall rear tire on the street to kill that Z06 past 140mph. Been there, done that.

Guys are going to be proud of their cars, even if they don't drive an SVT product. As long as their facts are true, I certainly don't mind people challenging the standard way of thinking on here. Nothing worse than everyone agreeing on the same thing all the time. Plenty of Camaro posts over on C5 for that. :rollseyes

Having owned a modded C6Z, and spending considerable seat time in two different GT-Rs, I can tell you that there is plenty to be proud of with either one of them, and those cars have both been near the top of the food chain a lot longer than the GT500 has.

I just think it's funny when anyone with a car costing $25K+ more than a GT500 (Z06, ZR1, Viper, GT-R, etc.....) starts talking crap about being faster. :lol:

Reminds me of a guy in town with a Bugatti Veyron that wears a license plate frame that says "Ferraris for lunch, Vipers for Dinner" Really? You spent a MILLION euros on that car (which at the time was over $1.5M USD), and you're taking shots at cars costing 1/10th of what you paid? :loser:

A $200k Aston Martin DBS won't be blowing past anyone, not even a 2011+ Mustang 5.0, but I much rather pull up to club/bar/restaurant in an Aston than a Mustang GT or GT500. Price has nothing to do with it, it's EXCLUSIVITY!


Every Tom, Dick and Harry has a Mustang or Vette. And a $60k Mustang GT500s interior can't come near that of an Aston's.

You could have a '13 GT500 with 8 turbos on it and no one will take a second look at it without marching over to the BUGATTI sitting right next to it first and drooling.
