1)There's a post in here that is worth bookmarking for its accidental correctness.
2)I stick to my recommendation that if you're a really big fan of the overall 13/14 GT500 package, than you should buy one now.

Which post you speak of?

Not only that, I see people bitch about the new model cars when they themselves will never ever buy one.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner.

3...2....1....GO!

A Cobra less powerful than a GT500 would be gay. I'd never buy another ford again if that was the case.

BRB, gotta unload this McLaren. Just found out it makes 80 rwhp less than Mustang, despite 10.5x@134 1/4 mile.

It might not have as much power as the current shelby but I bet it will be faster. ;-)

I was talking about having a less powerful Cobra model and a GT500 in the same lineup like the previous post mentioned. You obviously didn't comprehend that.

That may be but I think the main success of the 03/04 Cobra and subsequent GT500 that utilize the same combination of parts (factory low comp forged motor, factory blower). Its cheap to make power, safe and consistent. That combination to people is a pro that easily offsets the price point difference between building up say a GT and buying a Cobra/500 that already comes with a pretty much built motor.

I dunno about you but I wouldn't spend the extra money if the only difference was power output on paper and the motor was fragile if pushed merely 50-100hp past factory numbers. Now sure, weve seen the coyote powerplant being pushed 200ish hp past factory but nobody yet is certain of its durability at that point. We know a 390hp 03/04 survives at well over 600whp, many times even upwards of 700-800 depending on boost source (big snails vs blower), same with the GT500.

However if the emphasis on the next gen mustang is a low slung low center of gravity lightweight higher revving handling beast, then I may have to change my opinion on the motor.

Has 2004 Mustang. Would never buy another Ford if Mustang offered at multiple power levels in 2015.

Is it going to be a dramatic drop in power?

FTFY. Wasn't hard was it?

Distinction is semantics. It's not happening anyhow, but comical position if it was. "I was gonna buy that new F-150 that gets 1500 mpg running on seawater, but I'll never buy another Ford after they had both a 550 hp Cobra and a 650 hp GT500 concurrently!"

Damn DBK, you're building quite the stable. Did you pick up Treynor's MP4 when he got his Spyder?

My next purchase will not be a Mustang. I am pretty sure I am going to be very satisfied with the GT500 for years to come. That being said, I am looking very forward to the next C7 Z06 or GenV Viper ACR. One of those will be in my future.

Just another speculation by someone with no facts to back it. Ford doesn't have anything even remotely close to making as much power naturally aspirated as GM makes with the LSA in the ZL1. Does any rational person REALLY think Ford is just gonna let Chevy hand Mustangs their asses at will?

Forced induction is going nowhere. It may become a turbo(s) rather than a supercharger, but I'd be beyond shocked if Ford just rolled over and let Camaros kick sand in the face of every 2015+ Mustang they meet.

Either way 2015 is gonna be interesting. It's speculated that the 6th gen Camaro will be built on a much smaller RWD platform, possibly the same one as the ATS which weighs 3300-3400 lbs in sedan form. It's a safe bet they'll use a version of the LT1 for the SS model too.
