No fanboyism here, but cobras are generally only distinguishable within the mustang crowd. Same goes for a lot of special editions for whatever particular brand, with that being said, before I got my car and paid much attention to any mustang, I'd take a second look at a new 5.0 before I'd notice a cobra. It's all relative though, and now I have a soft spot for termis, but people develope jaded perspectives on things like that eventually and it all gets ridiculously opionated and we start to sounds like bickering school girls

FORD GT? From 2005?

Yep...told you, GM is behind. Can't help that Ford did it first.

I'm not taken anything away from Mustang, because the mustangs serve a purpose and I love the car, but I think that cobra of yours is causing you to say things purely on ignorance.

Nah...it's more the fact that I'm a GM dealership employee that has me saying things purely on facts and first hand experience with shit build quality.

Wow a 426 hp 1LE camaro vs a 662hp GT500 and the camaro is only about a second behind lol. On a side note the mustang is FINALLY getting irs :)

Interesting....I have IRS.....2003 model. ;-)

Don't bring the GT500 into this son, seems like the overweight ZL1 has it's hands full with a base GT.

what year did GM finally go IRS in the Camaro... didn't the '99 Cobra have IRS?

given the slight difference in current road course performance numbers, i expect much ZL1 butt-hurt after new Mustang IRS.

You do know that the Corvette still uses leaf springs?

in a nod to GM... it's far beyond a "normal" leaf spring. i've got to give them credit on how bad-ass that thing really is.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 Suspension Walkaround on Edmunds.com

from the above link:
So far the advantages of the Corvette's transverse composite leaf spring include these: very low weight; very low unspring weight; no need for reinforced structures up high; low center of gravity; height and corner weight adjustability; built-in roll stiffness that reduces the size and weight of any add-on stabilizer bar that may be desired.

Not sure if serious? Yes the 99 Cobras have IRS....The one part of the 99 Cobra that didn't need a recall

To me....an upgraded IRS is like going from VHS to DVD....hard to really to appreciate unless you experience it first hand.

Besides an 07-13 GT500, I don't think I would buy a Mustang without IRS

i was pointing out the Camaro's HUGE advantage and massive leap forward in pony cars tech by going IRS.... 10 years after Ford, haha.

Ford didn't necessarily "nail" the '99 Cobra the first time around. ... ops.

i believe we're both on the same page with IRS cars. although i would skip '07-'10 GT500's... matter of fact i passed on an '07 and picked up an '03.

In the article they say they screwed up with gear selection around one of the curves during the 1LE's lap which costed some time. If the 1LE made a clean lap it might have even beat the 13 Shelby's lap time.

How is GM behind cause of the Ford GT? It was around for two years and discontinued after the ZO6 came out and Chevy anounced there was a ZR1 model comming out. And on top of that the Ford GT was built by a 3rd party company that Iimproved on the GT40 design that was engineered and built by a British company called Lola. Ford just supplied the engine and badges hahahaha
And even after all that, Corvette has more 24 hour lemans wins in the last 13 years than Ford has in it's entire existance. Team Corvette is considered the moat successful team in ALMS HISTORY, and hold more records than any other team. Hell, the Ford GTs couldn't even attend 24 hour lemans this year cauae their qualifying lap times were too slow. LoL.
Yup, GM is WAAAAAAAAY behind.

Yeah, the Bowtie guys have the AMLS covered, that is no lie.
I love watching that car beat the world :)
This is a weird argument by both sides. Ford uses old tech because it has advantages; cheap, light, can be made to work well, and so does Chevy.
Ford uses a sra in the Mustang: light, tough, not the best for road courses.
Chevy uses leaf springs in the Corvette: light, better chassis placement, lower profile, and nearly impossible to isolate crosstalk.
You could go on with other things like; modified strut front suspension, and push rods or choice of material.
They both make great cars that appeal to different people. And they are made to be affordable! These cars are competing on a performance level well above their price range. I am just enjoying this modern muscle car era :)

GM dealership employee? I'm going to assume a car salesman. In that case, you're no subject matter expert.

You have provided zero facts on why GM is behind, other than

"My 03 cobra is better"

"My 03 cobra is better"

Don't get me wrong I like Ford vehicles. Im always in the market for either one. As a matter of fact I think GM has nothing on Ford when it comes to full size pickups. I think i'm gonna pull the trigger on a new F150. My favorite truck. I currently have an 06. I've even been debating keeping my truck, selling my C5Z and buying a used 13 Shelby.
What's funny is fanboys that spew nonsence and make it look like their favorite brand is this honest hero that's the best at everything, and it's competitors are the devil and lose at everything when they don't cheat.
With that said, im not putting down Ford just handing out a reality check.
I've owned some great GM cars and some that were worthless piles of pooh. I've also owned Fords and had the same experiences. They're both pretty much the same. I just think GM has the upper hand when it comes to tech and performance, although Ford shrunk that gap significantly the last 5-8 years.

Pretty damn sad lol. A car with 200 hp less is keeping pace with a car that cost 20k more :pop:.

I probably should haven't had said "Embarrass" it, you're right. But for the gap in power it sure does perform well.

Don't think I'm trashing talking mustangs, I love them; they're amazing cars, but this whole trash talk about the ZL1 is a little crazy. Obviously there is competition but at least look at the numbers. Give credit where it is due, the ZL1 is a performer. The C7 Stingray is a beast and I won't even talk about the z28, z06 or ZR1 until they hit the streets. But get your butt hurt cream out...

Sorry, that was on slicks, I could guarantee it. GM has been KNOWN to send text cars at the time of their release with slicks. I'm sure they make slicks in that size.

Gotcha, and I agree that Ford did a great job with the Mustang line , they do not have an answer for the Vette :)
