That MB doesn't look too bad at all. I've loved the new mustang up until now. Although, hard to say without seeing it in person.

Yuk! If it's $55k loaded and 550hp and performs that may be ok but styling needs way more aggression! And we need a 700hp car too!!

Too viperesque looking for me. Oh and the ass end is the worst ive ever seen on a Mustang period. My 2012 is safe for quite some time with this new body style.

For myself the color makes all the difference. This whole "red with stripes" makes me dislike any car!! guess they've done the research as to what grabs attention:shrug:

I can't bring myself to believe that the GT350 will be the Top-Dog, Halo Mustang. You're telling me that Ford (more specifically SVT) is going to drop the power output by 112HP on their pride and joy?

It's simple; GT500 > GT350. They need to reserve some headroom for a future halo Mustang.

Same HP but much better chassis/suspension/brakes and less weight.

We don't know if it's going to be lighter or not. A lot of us thought it was going to be smaller. Turns out it's bigger. And with new safety regulations and probably no use of any lightweight materials, it's probably going to be the same weight or heavier. I'd love to be proved wrong, though!

Probably going to be a big weight drop which should make up up for the 112 hp. Plus I doubt that is a set in stone figure and if it was it's probably underated like most our cars have been the past few years.

It's stated in the magazine that its more than likely the boss 302 replace ment so technically it's up 106 N/A horsepower. The next too mustang should rival that of the 13/14 gt500 although that's tbd.

Have a tiny bit of faith guys. While Ive never had a big supply myself, when it comes to the future of mustang and SVT AND Shelby, I don't think anyone will be disappointed. Car and Driver got a few things right, but that's not what it will look like. Also, remember 550HP in a car that can utilize 100% of the power > a car that has 662HP that you cannot get out of your driveway without going sideways. (Although that can be mighty fun too)

The GT350 will follow characteristics of its original design, and the GT500 has already done its roots proud. Nothing Ford is doing or has recently done makes me think they are screwing it all up now.

Then there are the few variants Ford already has planned for 2017-18 and another big idea floating around.

Any glimmer of hope on the 6.2 Boss block with 4 valve heads? Anything? Maybe just the slightest possibility??

I'm still not understanding why most assume this is taking the gt500's spot and comparing them as if ford downgraded. Has anyone actually read the tidbit in the article?

Im a big fan of displacement too, but I don't see any indication they can go big again. I sure hope Im wrong though.

04svtsnke- you quoted me, but Im not seeing anywhere in my post that makes that assumption. I can't speak to what Shelby information Im privy to, but my point was merely to show that Ford has done the GT500 justice in the 8 year run so far. Ford has not built a GT350, so i would imagine they will do a great job there too- but its no secret there isn't a 5.4 or 5.8 being built on the niche line, so that only leaves a 5.0 variant for the GT350. That's an assumption, but I think a safe one. My greater than sign shows the mouth eating the GT350, so its "eating the bigger meal". Just in case you forgot which way those signs go....

The lead designer when the 2013 GT500 motor was announced said multiple times in his interviews that the Trinity motor was going to be the most powerful ever. Meaning in history and for a while to come. Look at how the 2003/4 cobra was made. It took them until 2007 to bring out a car with more power then that.

Also, all of these manufacturers (Ford especially) arent going to be going nuts with horsepower battles with the CAFE standards in the USA, there are some strict guidelines coming down the pipeline in the USA with emissions and fuel economy.

Its very possible that you might see a car with a DCT and turbos being quicker to 60 or handling better in the coming years, but you may not see more then 662hp from the factory again period. I could be wrong but I dont think its likely.

What about the 05 GT?
