Beware of the Boss intake 5.0 w/ full exhaust and a tune.

Us GT500 owners should just turn off the next street when approached by these King of the street monsters. And then throw in a S/C on a coyote... that thing is gonna need a parachute on the back for all that record breaking horsepower.

I agree, who needs a stock GT500 when you can buy a stock 5.0 and mod it with the world famous Boss intake, exhaust and a great tune and start pulling bus lengths on a GT500. Add lower gears and DR's and then your talking being able to take out a Mclaren F1 & Lambo's.

There is just no way i would agree to race a 5.0 with those mods, i couldn't keep up (sarcastic voice of course)

A stock 5.0 is just as fast as a stock 2007 GT500, now add bolt-ons to a GT500 and it's a different story. There are a lot of Boss intake cars trapping 116-118, so why is it a stretch that my car can beat a stock GT500? Plus I have some weight reduction about 100lbs. Stock GT500 numbers--->Shelby ran a 12.82-second quarter-mile at 113 mph-----> http://www.edmunds.com/ford/shelby-gt500/2007/road-test1.html

Thats what I'm saying, I thought these bolt on 5.0s trapped near 118-120? Isn't a 07-09 GT500 A 114-116 trap car?

Not every single Boss Intake/Tune 5.0 will trap 118-120. I've seen many trap 115-117 with bolt-ons.

However, the OP clearly states if the race started out equal, he would put several car lengths on the GT500.

A Stock 5.0 is a good race for a Stock 2007-2009 GT500, with the edge still going to the GT500.

To make things fair, a Boss Manifold, Intake/Exhaust and Tune 5.0 WILL NOT beat/destroy a Bolt-on 07-09 GT500.

5.0's are not unbeatable, and older GT500's shouldn't be taken too lightly in stock form either. Still talking about a 450 RWHP car that weighs 3800-3900lbs which is not much more than a 5.0. Maybe 300lbs with a 60-70 RWHP deficit?

Also like to point out that the GT500 wasn't stock according to the OP (Really wide rear tires, and at least an exhaust) and not sure about anything else.

So we are basically all in agreement that the op is not putting 4-5 car lengths on a Stock gt500. I'm not saying it couldn't be a close race but 4-5 lengths is crazy.

On a side note I'm not racing any 5.0's of any level until I'm at 800rwhp just to be safe

4 length isn't that much considering I went to the top of fourth with 3.31 gears. Now if it had been only a 60-110 mph then that would be crazy.

No. Most GT500 owners, yes.

Do you even realize what a huge power difference or weight difference there has to be between two cars for one to win by 4 car lengths. It's just insanity to think its even possible for cars with very similar hp and the weight difference not being that major to have that outcome.

I just think its possible with equal drivers. How often does equal drivers happen though?

You do know that 3.31 gears in a GT is about 138 at 7500rpms.

It's still not possible the numbers just don't add up.

K neat. I like nachos.

Are we just stating random facts now. Gears or not. A 5.0 at that power level isn't putting 4-5 car lengths on a stock gt500

You can think what you want...after all it is a free country. I don't even know if he missed a gear, the guy was, so butt hurt about the pull he wouldn't have a friendly 2 min chat.

What numbers? Its about more than power, see GT-R(and no Im not comparing a 5.0 to a gt-r). The two cars are a drivers race stock, correct? Mod either and it leaves the other in the dust. I think a full bolton 5.0 will put 3-4 cars on a stock 07-09 GT500.

No a gtr will walk away from a 5.0. What are you guys smoking. I can't read this thread anymore my head is going to explode.

The 5.0 driver stories are true. It's like damn ls1 owners from a few years ago.

I agree, but how many videos have we seen of a gt-r making the same power as a C6Z and running door to door with it or beating it? The numbers dont add up right?

The sooner you except the fact, that 5.0s don't lose unless to another 5.0, the sooner your head will feel better. It's just the natural progression of 5.0s. First it was 03/04 cobras, now it's older gt500s. All I can say now, watch out 13+ gt500s. Your next guys... lol

I've had three Cobra's, not a Cobra hater. Love them for what they are and have a good friend with a 2014 GT500 which I have beat on a couple times.

If a 5.0 beat me. I would be trying to run him off the road to find out what was done to his car.

I would have loved to have talked, I followed him through three lights and then into home depot parking lot and then up and down a parking row. He just kept trying to evade me and wouldn't park, so I left.

So you also beat a 2014 GT500 a couple of times?

I am glad that I have a 5.0 on order. I'll get basic boltons and beat a car with over 150 more rwhp and 200lbs more weight. Watch out 13/14 GT500 owners. :)
