My wife has occasional issues with her S5 not sending texts, volume problems and touch screen stops responding.

I've had a Samsung Blackjack, S3, S4 and now a Note 3 with zero issues, ever.

They sell a ton of phones I have no problem with 1 or 2 in a 100k having issues. My problem was how far they went to resolve and fix the issues that one of their phones had. It was like they did not care and that they could replace me the customer easier than they could the phone. That is ass backwards if you ask me.

I did not even want a new phone. I just wanted a new mic so I could make a phone call like everyone else.

I purchased my first samsung last summer the brand new s5. Bloatware, chrome chipping off in the first week carrying it my pocket with my cash(my keys and knife in my other pocket), mic never worked and samsung would not fix it. Told me to reboot and use their software to backup my phone. software did not work, lost text messages, a few contacts, and the mic still did not work. I had to make all my phone calls on speaker from the second mic just so people could hear me. Samsung never did fix it and I bit the bullet paying the etf and switched to verizon and the g3 which is a great phone! I wont be going back to samsung.

Yeah, that would piss me off quite a bit. To bad you couldn't just take it back to your carrier and have them replace the phone. Sign back into your google account and a lot of times the phone will start setting itself up just like your previous setup.

Verizon not only let you upgrade early but encouraged you to do so? Go buy a lottery ticket.

No, that's standard. That forced him into resigning a contract which gives them an opportunity to change his plan to a more expensive one, or simply keep him on the hook for another 24 months.

Stuff like this makes me more hesitant to continue with samsung phones when I upgrade (next month).

I'm hard on phones so I need one regardless, I opted for the Best Buy 64gig deal for 299 upgrade price w/ the free charger. Stupid assholes cancelled my order, I was out of town this past weekend and couldn't pick it up, I didn't realize they only gave you 2 days to pick it up before it gets cancelled. Needless to say I have to go back and pre-order another one. 64 gigs will be PLENTY for me, I don't understand why people need so much storage, I mean right now I have a 600 song spotify playlist, and pictures and stuff on my 16 gig S4. I can't imagine trying to fill up 64 gigs it wouldn't be easy unless you had thousands of songs I guess. I usually get a upgrade every 2 years so battery life really doesn't bother me.

I presently have an iPhone 6 (am pretty happy with it), but the new S6 has my attention and when I am available for an upgrade I just might own my first Samsung product.

SHOdown220, any idea how/why you got the upgrade-early text? I'm very interested. ;-)

Honestly I have no clue. Just got a random text at work and figured I would go in the store I pass on my way home from work. I'm used to being on a contract so it didn't bother me signing a new on. I was late on my payment this month (thought I had paid it already) maybe that was there way to get me in a store to pay my bill lol

I'm really happy with this phone. So far the battery life has been better than I got with my S5 on power saver mode. With my style of usage and tweaks I'm gonna get 24 hours out of a charge.

Ok, first gripe ... either i'm an idiot, or theres no way to answer notifications from the lock screen. On the iphone you just swipe the notification and it takes you to whatever it was, on this phone (again, my first android) it just clears the notification ... So far though, if thats my only gripe, i think i'll be much happier with this phone than my old iphone.

did you press said notification instead of swiping it?

I know im on 4.x still but if you hit email notifications from the lock screen it usually takes me to my email. If I swipe it it clears that notification.

Picked mine up last night and I'm extremely impressed. Absolutely no bloatware whatsoever aside from AT&T's horseshit they have to market to you. I'm blown away by the screen clarity, the device feels incredibly solid I love this new frame it has a professional "business feel" to it I love the new back glass design, not some plasticy shit garbage they've cranked out in the past. I'm very pleased with the speaker placement you can actually hear it going off in your pocket, especially if you put the phone upside down facing the speaker up towards you.

What kind of lock screen are you running? Just swipe to open or fingerprint or pin code? A lock screen other than just swipe shouldn't allow interaction with the contents of the phone without thumb print or pin code. That would kinda defeat the purpose of the lock screen imo. I think those are just quick glance notifications.

I've been an android user since 2010, in December I decided to get the iphone 6, nice device but sorry Apple people, android is better in pretty much every facet, that being said, my nephew just got the S6, what a great device! Apple fan bois always kind of lived on the Apple build quality being better, not the case anymore, the HTC and Samsung both have as good as, if not better build quality. I miss android in the worst way, hopefully I can get out of this iphone and get the S6

That was the killer for me...I will keep my S5. However, I am not happy Verizon talking me into downloading the Lollipop? upgrade!!! Screwed everything up. I will never do an upgrade without research again.

Android fans have no clue what they are talking about! Get an andriod change or have multiple batteries expandable memory, etc. Today get an andriod best build quality. This tells me those fanboys have no clue and they will be marveled at the next marketing gimmick.

You should probably run through the tutorial or read the manual haha. Pretend you know nothing about cell phone UI because Android is completely different than iOS.

On my Moto X, the direction you swipe the lock screen notification changes what happens. Swiping left or right will clear it and leave the phone locked. Swiping down will unlock the phone but just to the normal home page. Swiping up will go to the text/email or whatever the notification is for. Try that.

This post made zero sense. I'm guessing you don't have an S6 and have probably never had an Android device, so your comments are completely pointless.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of what Samsung puts out. They look great on paper but in reality they're laggy, buggy, piles of crap. My wife's Note Edge has had problems since day one. Since they finally found a replacement with a working camera she's happy but every time I grab it I'm shocked at how slow and laggy it is compared to my Nexus 5. There are amazing android based phones out there but I don't believe Samsung makes any.

People like android because you can change batteries and add/transfer data/space. I get that.
Now these same people are saying get andriod because it can't do the two items listed above. "It has great build quality!"

This tells me they have no clue and are following andriod/Samsung blindly!

Interesting. I have almost a year to go before I'm eligible for an upgrade. I'll have to call Verizon and inquire about this. Maybe they select certain customers for this early upgrade.
