You might be able to get away with using that last nut if you start with that one. Take all the other ones loose and pull the header away from the block then work that one down then the rest are cake. I had that issue when I did my headers, it wouldn't go on the stud because the primary.

You do realize you could put your hair up for sale here and one of your admirers would probably buy it for a decent price !!

LOL

This is the kind of install where all the threads I read make it seem like it takes a normal person about 4-5 hours, but it takes a week.

Yes, but would it go for as much as Treynor's hair?

Nice, looks like I'm not the only one who has Murphy visiting the garage.... I did a Cam/exhaust/CJ intake install over a week... Had the same luck as you, but worth it over the labor money I saved and it was a good excuse to buy some more tools.. Good luck finishing it up!

Managed to get the driver side buttoned up, was able to loosen and wiggle the header enough to slip the last nut on. Passenger side wasn't so easy. Had to pull 4 studs, and I can't get 2 back on due to interference. Additionally I have to pull the front top and swap it for a bolt (hopefully I can do this without pulling the thing completely back off...doubtful) because it touches the first pipe. Losing the hardware has made this a nightmare; I just overnighted a new set of bolts from Jegs (yay for burning $25 in shipping) for the 2-3 bolts I need to finish tightening it down.

When I pulled my studs (nearly all of them for the TT kit), I had to clean about half of the holes out to get new bolts back in. Not sure if that's the problem you are running into. I just shot a bunch of brake cleaner in each hole until it was flushed out.

NM, just re-read it. You mean pipe interference. I had to cut some studs off with a grinder. I've got a whole sack of 5.0 header studs if you need them.

They came out easy, with no thread damage. I got very lucky; I was sweating bullets for sure. But I don't think I can tighten it down with the stud as is, and I'd rather buy a bolt than cut a stud I may some day have to take out.

I've had this creeper since 2001, and this is the first time this has ever happened. I guess it started slipping out of its bun.

Ouch, Kat! Any broken nails yet to go along with the lost hair? But seriously, good for you tackling these mods yourself. I wish you the best with the rest of the install.

Updates:

Passenger side is half done, waiting on the bolts to come in for the 4 places where studs interfered with the pipes:

Bolts are set for delivery tonight, so hopefully I'll get that, the starter and motor mount in tonight and be "done" with the header install.

After that was wrapped up for the night, my brother and I installed the AFCO H/E:

I have to say, this kit is one of the nicest, most well thought out mods I've done on a car in recent memory. EXCEPT - The included instructions were for an 07-09, and I'm not sure if they have an updated version for the 10-12. Notable differences - the kit includes spacers for the pump so the hose clears the fan, the instructions don't mention these. The power wire for the pump on my car was white and green, not white and red as per the instructions. And the fuse box where you attach the fan power lines is slightly different.

Well, that's the part that attaches to it, but it's a hard metal line that may not be included in the assembly :( I'm seriously thinking about trailering it to the dealer when I get back and having them replace the line and flush the system. It'll be stupid costly, but the peace of mind is worth it, right?

Well...I broke them all, but it was on purpose. I cut them shorter with a pair of dykes Saturday morning, since it was time for a new set anyways. Had them redone Sunday afternoon and haven't broken one since! I made the lady make them much shorter tho, they grow so fast anyways. And I'm trying to remember to sometimes use gloves. My hands are bruised everywhere.

I haven't seen a computation pad since I graduated college 12 years ago, brings back tons of (some not so good, lol) memories.

Hybred, surprised you didnt sell the GT500. Would think you were eventually going to get a GT350. I have mixed feelings on the looks but performance is a step up in comparison to a GT500 (maybe not drag racing performance).

But then again, I noticed you were a roll racer, so maybe remaining a GT5hundo is your thing. :poke:
