If you have the money, Colt all the way, and upgrade with Wilson as needed.

Colt quality is a little questionable these days. I was set on a Wiley Clapp full frame 1911. I got one and was so disappointed. Its a rattle trap, the safety has sharp edges that actually cut into my thumb and shell casings ejected in my face.

Super bummed when it comes to Colt anymore.

Nothing wrong with MIM, IF it's done right. Colt sears have long enjoyed a good reputation, and are MIM.

I believe Sig MIM parts are outsourced to India.

Born and raised Brockton. Living in Naples.
Sig's 1911 is proprietary if I recall correctly, and if you decide to change anything on the gun, other 1911 parts from places like Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, Baer, et all, may not fit it. 1911s are hot rods, people change stuff on them.

I was told recently by one of the most knowledgeable folks I know on 1911's that Sig is now being run by the same guy who screwed up Kimber. There are some nice Kimbers still out there, and some nice Sigs, but current production may or may not be up to speed with both company's past reputation.

You can get a Dan Wesson for that money you mentioned if you look.
And this my friend is exactly why I wouldn’t buy a p365 and have sold all my sigs. To me they are not special anymore.

I’ll stick with my glocks. If I were to buy a new 1911 it would be a Dan Wesson and I’m currently waiting on a shadow 2 in blue that is hard to find but I’m in no rush.

I bought and sold a Sig P365 in the same day, even with a waiting list two pages long at my local gun store.

I have a Kimber Gold Match II. It is very sensitive with respect to what ammo it runs.

Would not recommend the brand.

I will agree that a Colt owner will get to perform a bit of precision finishing work.

What was wrong with it?

Fit and finish?
Shootability?
My initial complaint had nothing to do with the quality, or lack thereof. It made the same tight groups at ten yards my Grock 43 does. Amazingly, the grip is much smaller than the G43, which I found to just be too small for my mits.

I had posted a thread comparing the G43 and the P365 at my local gun forum and learned that there are some timing issues with the entire design of the pistol, where the striker/firing pin drags across the primer after firing, clearly leaving a mark, that indicates the striker is sill in contact with the spent brass casing while it is trying to eject. This puts undue stress on the actual firing pin which can potentially cause breakage.

Same here...never thought I would like a glock but i sure love my g43
I've never considered myself to be a fanboi, but they just got it right with the 43, although I wish they could get some more rounds in their grip that is larger than Sig's P365 which holds 10 rounds. I have mag extensions that I don't use for the 43 because it becomes less "carry-able" in my front pocket with extensions. I do carry a spare mag, but more to clear malfunctions in a stress situation as I would carry with any handgun, more so than for added capacity.

That said, even before I knew about the possible design flaws in the 365, I had already made the decision to not retire my 43 because it just shoots so well for me.

I hate how much mags cost for the glocks damn, I'm not a fanboi either...the 43 is the only glock I have ever shot that I enjoyed.

That being said I do need a 1911 in my life and this thread has been informative

Springfield Loaded, all the good stuff from the custom shops, without the high price. Paid 749 for mine.
My daily carry is an older Kimber tactical ultra II
