I suspect a lot of the EV haters have

A) never driven one or

B) if they have, it was a Chevy Volt or similar because the don’t hand out Plaids for test drives or

C) they are just resistant to change.

EV’s are coming and there isn’t much the general public can do about it. Sure, some of us of o certain age won’t have to buy one and I am one of those that has never owned a vehicle that didn’t have a V8 but our kids or grandkids won’t have a whole lot of options if buying new. An EV as they are today would not work for me mostly because of range issues and that is greatly affected by the cold winters here, I am positive that the technology will change that in the future but it isn’t there yet. An EV with a 500 mile range in the winter could change my V8 ways

D) it is because they have experience with them that they hate them

It has to have a soul.
Sadly, these cars are getting fewer and fewer. It is, what it is. We are nearly 10 years removed from the day the number of electric cars being produced outnumbered manual transmission cars. “You must only drive your manual transmission car with no abs and no traction control in order to be an enthusiast”. Means you’ll be finishing last.

Those are pretty much in the minority. Lots of folks don’t like certain brands either and would never consider one of that brand too. You may have experience with a Plaid and don’t care for it but there is no way the haters are going to stop the EV wave. I don’t like that either but that doesn’t change it.

I drove a model 3 dual motor and after like 2.5 miles the allure wore off and I decided electric wasn't for me. I literally was test driving it with intent to purchase one in the near future.

You missed the obvious D) category. Those who detest vehicles that don't have a "soul". I'm talking about the nuances of a performance V8 or turbo V6 that stirs your senses with a cam lope, loud exhaust, blower whine, turbo whistle, etc. in a way that can't be duplicated in a silent EV. I would be in THAT category. As such, I have no interest in owning one, no matter how quick/fast it is. We all know that EVs will eventually be the norm, but in the meantime those of us in that D) category will continue to stick with what stirs our souls.

Add "likes to work on and modify said vehicles" and I'm in with Bob. Transferring a file via Bluetooth for performance gains isn't what I consider to be working on your car.

I would have to agree to this. Listening to the V8 through your modded exhaust and the whine of the blower is very intoxicating. Sure you could put in those noises on the speaker system of the car, but that would not interest me one bit since it's not genuine. I'd rather have the silence. It would be akin to having non functional hood vents.

I'm one of those guys that misses having the manual option in performance cars. I understand the automatics have now been made to outperform manuals but having a manual connects you more to the driving experience and adds a lot to the fun factor for me.

I agree EV's are going to be the next big thing and there is nothing us peons can do about it. The people running this show are pushing the EV switch extremely hard on many fronts and will be rammed down our throats whether we like it or not. The EV's are incredibly fast but they just can't replace the driving experience you get from a good ole gasoline motor.

What was the outcome? Link is dead.

Edit: I assume this is the race? SDR Performance is close to Omaha:

Built RS3's give me major wood. Mmmmmmm

EVs are "performance cars" the way trans women are "women."

They both have holes but I still would not **** one.

Crazy weird homophobic post. Not a kid here, and I’ve worked extremely hard to be able to afford cars like this. Not gonna feel the least bit guilty about owning nice things.

Ok Liz Warren... JFC

Isn’t that what you do with a tune ? We don’t have to like it but it is the way of the future, I am not a big fan either but also not a big fan of most of the new cars, too many Nannie’s and some, including the mustang are making the engine sounds through the stereo, WTF?

Yeah, but someone else is putting that tune together. I do the physical work on my car.
I put parts on it and I have my guy do the computer work. There isn't a change parts or turn wrenches on an EV. Just doesn't appeal to a large group of us. The fact that they are trying to force EVs down everyone's throats isn't helping either.
I'd love to see a viable plan on the current power grid, that would allow all of the EVs to charge while everyone is blasting their home A/Cs. Guess all of "the smart people" aren't worried about the how, just in the idea. Mislead and mostly apathetic. Society, that is.

ORRRRRRR... The liberals have miscalculated and misjudged... maybe electric isnt the future. Maybe people by and large DONT want a E/V... I live in a condo on the second floor.... and 100000000 percent an E/V doesnt appeal to me at alll... pouring gasloine into a tank literally takes 2 minutes maybe and ure good for 400 miles.... an E/V requires advanced planning for any trips..... this alone doesnt appeal to me... having to charge the thing and find chargers. Political winds change and the american peolle dont like being forced into anything... in america.... the best ideas generally win out... over time............... and as a side bar.... electric cars STILL need to get the energy from somewhere.... we are still burning coal and operating a power grid SOMEWHERE to power this E/V. it ISNT 100 percent clean energy........... its just an idea. You ever see a site where they mine lithium/ cobalt/ nickel.... whatever. Those mining sites look terrible.
