The tech passed the car visually, but it failed out the sniffer.
The car has:
2.3 whipple
accufab TB
60's
Tune
Bassani X w/ cats
Bassani catback

Anyone else fail out the sniffer. They do a 15mph and 25mph test. The worst part of the test was the NO's at 15 mph.
My test results:

@ 15 MPH / 2015 RPM:
HC - MAX=52, MEASURED=77
CO - MAX=.49, MEASURED=.10
NO - MAX=424, MEASURED=871

@ 25 MPH / 2200 RPM:
HC - MAX=36, MEASURED=54
CO - MAX=.46, MEASURED=.13
NO - MAX=711, MEASURED=695

My next plan of attack is to put my stock H pipe back on. I also want to tweak the tune w/ my PRP.
Any tuners out there know where to start???

I would put your stock "H" back on. If you don't have one, I do in my garage. Just PM me if you need it. You went from 4 cats to 2 to start and from what I hear, our cars fail all the time with aftermarket midpipes, but will pass in two seconds with the stock "H" back on. I do agree you need to get your tune checked if you didn't pass, though.

i wanna know how he passed the visual with a 2.3 whipple, lol

Whipple's are CARB legal given you are running either a 3.5" or 3.25" pulley (if the tech even checks, or if they even care its a whipple, or they even realize its aftermarket)

+1 on reverting to stock midpipe.

Mine epic failed with the Bassani Catted X, same results as OP a few years back when i tried to sell the car with the Catted X. Blows roses with the stock midpipe. I just passed earlier today, had to get it smogged so i can sell it. Wasnt worried at all with the stock midpipe, it passed awesomely, everything was under the average results, mods in sig and all i put back on was the stock airbox to pass underhood visual. What happens is one set of cats scrubbs Co2, and the other scrubbs NOx, without two sets of two cats, one set gets overrun with either-or, usually fails NOx. Its nothing to do with the tune, and everything to do with the midpipe, throw the stocker on and go back.

just for the record, are KB's carb legal as well???

Whipples have better language written in their carb approval letter. Main reason i went whipple. In the letter they mention upgraded injectors, reflash or chip, air cleaner. Search is down right now, otherwise I'd post the link. Someone will have it.

Thanks for all the help, I'll be putting on my stock H.

Thanks for the informative post, it big time convinces me. Do you remember how bad your NOx's were w/ the aftermarket cats?
