No worries... just trying to provide a bit of insight from my experience.

I would recommend finding one specific and popular subsonic and one specific and popular supersonic that work well and stick with them. That will greatly reduce the chance of unreliable performance.

For me, I went with Remington for both. Since the AAC engineer went over to Remington, I figured I would give them a try. Their 120's and 220's are very consistent I can can find them everywhere, including Wal-Mart. Of course... those are just examples.

Good luck and looking forward to hearing the range report!

If I am buying a new complete rifle or pistol in 300 Blackout over the counter and AAC can't be found, "today" I wouldn't buy anything but a Daniel Defense.

Building with what we have available today? ...

AAC barrels and gas blocks are still floating around. I would start there. If you don't find a length you like (supply is getting thin) I would get a Noveske.

Alexander Arms has nice uppers. They are machined very well.

I like BMC uppers and lowers also. They are very good quality. I have a Bravo Company lower that I put heavy use on, with frequent trigger changes, and I am not seeing any since of elongated pin holes.

Most rail systems don't matter much... but stick with free-float. I'm partial to KAC.

I also like Bravo Company BCG's.

As far as I am concerned... no other triggers exists for AR's except the Geissele Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced (SSA-E) trigger for precision (2-stage) and the Geissele Super Dynamic 3 Gun (SD3G) trigger for extreme speed (single stage). Screw all the others.

Also, if you want reliable minute of man out to 350-400 yards, get the low-profile Bravo Company fixed A2 front sight and low-profile carry handle rear sights.

Troy or Bravo Company ambi charging handle.

Stocks, grips, tubes, etc... shooter choice.
I'd be building it for more of a short range/home defense gun. Probably 8.5" barrel. Eventually get a suppressor.

This is my current "home defense" build...

SIG Arms 516 Lower
SIG Arms Mil-Spec LPK
Streamlight TLR1 tac light
Geissele Automatics Super Dynamic Enhanced Trigger tuned down to 2.5 lbs
Geissele Automatics Nitride Low Profile Gas Block
Magpul MOE SL stock
Magpul MOE-K2 Grip
Troy Charging Handle
Vortex Venom red dot
Troy flip-up HK sights
Advanced Armament Co upper receiver
Advanced Armament Co 9 inch barrel
Advanced Armament Co Nickle Boron BCG
Advanced Armament Co BLACKOUT 51T Flash Hider
Advanced Armament Co 762-SDN-6 Suppressor
Knight’s Armament free-floating guard
C-Products GI Mags

I don't have any "fresh" pictures. The images have the MBUS' installed, not the Troy. Also, the Geissele SD-E trigger is not present in these pictures; the SSA-E was installed at the time. That said... you should get the idea.

It can be used for surgical work with the proper ammo, too.

Palmetto has good upper/lower parts/kits, lots of 300 blackout stuff etc...
This is what got me turned onto it at first. They had the upper without charging handle and bolt for $199 (list was like $319) but the deal ended. The CMMG has everything, including the bolt and charging handle, for $699 which isn't cheap but good middle of the road I think.

I have been browsing their site mulling over my options the last few days, will probably use the lower I have on 6.8 right now or get one of their lowers and do a completely new gun. They have some pretty damn good deals on lowers as well.

If your looking to purchase a complete rifle there are many other manufacturers outside of Daniel Defense that offer the same quality. In fact I would take a look at LWRC over any other “off the shelf” rifle.

I'm sure... and don't disagree. Just sharing an opinion is all. LWRC is pretty good. I just like the look and feel of the DD... plus the one I want is skeletonised and super light weight.

But yes... plenty of quality brands out there.

Born and raised Brockton. Living in Naples.
So now that I put on the hogue rubber grip I’m ready to shoot this little ****er at the range.
I am so anal about my guns that I had to spend extra $ so my grip would say Sig on it. ;).

And with the extended mag I can get three fingers on it and grip it pretty solidly. It’s 7+1.

I agree. ACOG and a torch and that ones done. Just don’t know enough about switch mounted lights. Any suggestions?

Honestly, I have only tried inexpensive remote switch systems. As to expect, I got what I paid for and most of them broke within days of install. It seems like the quality brands are beyond what I am willing to pay, so I just installed TLR-1 lights on all my pistols and rifles.

They work really well, but you have to place them near your most common/comfortable forehand position for ease of use. The switch is on the back and easy to activate with your forehand fingers. Just takes a little practice... like anything else.

HuntSpot actually named the TLR-1 the #1 AR tac light for 2017. I skipped the remote switch because the switch alone is $175. If I was going to buy one, based on the quality and reliability of all my Streamlight lights... that would be the first high quality one I would try.

That’s good to know. That said I have to agree with you in that an additional $175 for the switch is absurd. For that money, you might as well do the Crimson Trace LiNQ.

Dont know who has heard... but he bill that was put in front of Congress intended to ban bump fire stocks and any type of simulated Auto fire is dead. The Judiciary Committee refused to even take it up as an action item.

The reason cited? We already have laws on the books and a federal regulatory organization responsible for managing such items.

We all know that bump fire stocks are a novelty , as well as simulated Auto fire triggers and things of that nature . That doesn't mean that it's okay for us to sit back and let Congress to try and take our rights away. A win is a win and I'll take it!

This is posted locally in NC/SC gun forums, but I figure I'd mention here. A good friend of mine has worked with both the trainers below and is organizing this.

Testing the waters to see if there would be interest in doing a 2 day Ken Hackathorn-Larry Vickers Advanced Handgun class at Anthill Range near Southport, NC in late winter or early spring 2018. Will also include a low light portion Saturday night. Cost would be $550.

approx. 1,200 rounds

If interested, shoot me a PM and I'll keep you posted.

I would love to do something like that... being a disable fat guy makes stuff like that pretty tough though. I likely wouldn't make it through a whole day on either day.

The price is pretty good. I took some defensive handgun classes as well as fighting rifle classes a few years back. It can be a great time and you can learn a lot. My son and friends are blown away at how fast and accurate I am on a draw against an edge timer.
